Why use a carrier oil?

Carrier oils are vegetable oils with little-to-no scent, which are used to dilute essential oils. They aren’t volatile like essential oils and are shelf-stable. Carrier oils do dilute the potency of an essential oil. However, this doesn’t mean it’s any less effective. Rather, it means essential oils better absorb into your skin because they don’t evaporate as quickly. Dilution is also necessary for certain “hot” oils and when using any essential oils with children or for those with sensitive skin.
