We get a lot of questions on what qualifies as a bald fade. Let’s clear the air.

A bald fade [ to us ] is any fade that goes down to a ‘no guard’ blend. Well what does that mean?
That means that if your haircut calls for a 2 on the sides blended down to a 0 [ no guard + closed blade ]- That’s a bald fade. If your haircut is a 1 blended to a half [ no guard + open blade ]- That’s a bald fade. A skin fade is also..you guessed it, a bald fade!

So whether your cut calls for a buttery smooth finish or leaving a slight stubble behind, any fade requiring a guard be removed from the clippers, counts as a bald fade.
