Amanda 🖤
If you were here,
today we’d be celebrating you turning 40.
I’d be trying to come up with the right words to ease your nerves
about getting old,
about what you’ve accomplished
or wished you had.
I’d be reminding you to be gentle with how badly you were describing 40 to be, and that I’ve already been here for the last 7 months.
If you were here, I’d have been trying to convince you to have a proper celebration for this milestone, and eventually you’d have won, and we’d be doing something low-key instead.
If you were here,
we’d discuss the parts of our bodies and our faces that are different than they were in our 20s and 30s. We’d compare how much grey hair each of us had accumulated. I think I’d have you beat by far lol. We’d discuss what we accepted, what we’d set out to improve, and what we were unwilling to accept of this aging process.
We’d sit and reminisce about past lovers, relationships, and friendships. Laugh and sometimes scoff at our naiveties, share pride and appreciation in the lessons we’d learned, and talk about the soft parts that we were still healing. If you were here, you’d be telling me how glad you were I’d finally found the strength to close that chapter and walk away from what you never wanted for me. I’d remind you of the greatest gift I got and how she makes it all worthwhile.
We’d reflect on how much Naiya has grown, and you’d emphasize how proud you were of her, how cute she was when she was little, and how much we both missed her squeaky voice. You’d be so close with Nova if you were here, if you got to meet her and know her. You’d be so impressed by her vocabulary and s***k and sense of humor, and would be shocked at how fast she was growing up. Who knows, you might even have had one of your own by now.
We’d take inventory of the places we’ve been and places we want to go back to. We’d talk about the places we’d like to go together. If you were here, we might’ve landed on a celebration in Bali since we each have our own love story with that place.

Here’s to learning what nurturing should feel like through nurturing. What protection feels like by being a protector.
What home feels like by becoming one.
Here’s to loving, and giving, and showing up—even with the ache of not knowing that yourself.
What unconditional love feels like by being at your last straw, locking in, and finding more patience, more calm, more steady.
Here’s to being so tired your eyes are crossing and finding the energy anyway—to cook or clean, to play, to listen, to cuddle. To be present.
To feeling their breath on your chest, your hearts syncing when they come in for a hug, and knowing that you are forever connected. On a cellular level.
Here’s to soft, slow mornings mixed with equal parts sweetness and equal parts silliness. Routines that become traditions, traditions that become identity.
Giggles and tickles. Bravery and tears. Worry and pride.
Here’s to stretching, learning, and growing at a pace nothing can prepare you for.
Here’s to the ultimate challenge, the ultimate responsibility, the ultimate gift, and the ultimate magic of being given the opportunity to shape a whole being—a soul you will be tethered to through lifetimes.
To being seen in ways no other relational dynamic could ever come close to.
Here’s to wonder. To love.
Here’s to mothers (and mother figures 🤎) in all forms—here and gone.
I hope today you’re cherished. I hope today you’re seen. I hope today you are honored for doing the most sacred work our species has ever known.
Happy Mother’s Day ✨

Our islands need to heal rn ❤️🩹
I’m postponing this class indefinitely.
The past couple weeks have been a lot. Going back and forth between areas that are deeply impacted and others where life is moving on as usual has been a bizarre contrast to sit with.
There’s been a really beautiful show of community — people showing up for each other in ways that matter.
And at the same time, it’s clear how much people are being left to navigate on their own.
It doesn’t feel like the right time for me to hold this kind of offering.
I’ll share new dates when things feel more grounded.
In the meantime, if you’re here:
move with awareness.
lead with compassion.
check in on people.
support where you can.
Some people are carrying more than what’s visible.
Thank you for understanding

Doing this transformation on this beauty was special. She brought her partner with her who was hyping up the whole experience and at the end was so stunned by the outcome that he could barely contain himself. It was so beautiful to witness that support and adoration, and be included in helping to create sweet a moment like that. I love love 💗 and over the years one of the most fulfilling parts of this career has def been the ability to have an impact on how a person feels about themselves when they look in the mirror and how their lover looks at them with a renewed twinkle in their eyes when their glow gets a lil upgrade. ✨
Guess I’m a lovergirl for real 🫠

This is how I approach curls.
Not from a formula.
Not from one method.
Not from a trend.
Texture, density, porosity, saturation, water content, shape, intention — they all inform every decision I make behind the chair.
Curls aren’t complicated.
They’re contextual.
This is the foundation of what I teach inside my 3-day intensive.
Not a system to memorize — a way to see.
If you’ve been wanting to understand curls instead of guessing through them, this offering was created for you.

There are a lot of ways to approach curls.
This is mine.
After years of developing this approach behind the chair, I’m finally teaching the full course I created — here at home for the first time.
This intensive is for stylists who want more than formulas. We’ll study how texture, density, porosity, and technique actually work together so your decisions become intentional, adaptable, and informed.
I’m keeping the group small on purpose so it stays personal and collaborative.
Seats are limited and once it fills, it’s full. Link in bio to secure a spot ⚡️

Loved loved loved creating this shape 🙌🏽
On hair this dense there’s so much thought and technique put into every step in order for there to be a flow within the structure. There’s no room to half ass it and (IYKYK 🤓) I’m absolutely here for all of that
