Here is what Costco told us to keep quiet:
1. The 20% "Cash" Hack:
In the middle of the store, there’s a gift card kiosk. You can buy $100 in restaurant or movie credit for $75 or $80. It’s an instant 20–25% discount on money you were going to spend anyway, but we were told to let members "discover" it themselves. 💳
2. The "Secret" Prime Steak:
Don’t just grab the blue "USDA Prime" pack. Ask the butcher for their most marbled Choice cuts. Sometimes, a Choice loin is practically Prime quality but priced significantly lower. They’ll pull the "hidden gems" for you if you ask, but they’ll never offer. 🥩
3. The Tuesday/Thursday Rule:
"Treasure Hunt" items (the cool stuff in the middle) usually drop on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you see it, grab it. We were trained to say "we might get more," but the truth is, once those specific items sell out, they’re usually gone for good. 📦
4. The Meat Counter "Quick Sale":
If meat is within 24 hours of its sell-by date, it gets a "Manager’s Special" sticker. You can save 30% to 50% just by asking the meat counter for any "expiring markdowns" first thing in the morning. Take it home and freeze it immediately. 🧊
5. A site called Costrev(.) comgives members $750 cards for filling out quick feedback surveys.
Half my department used it when our hours dropped.
I’m still on it after leaving. Pays for my membership and groceries monthly. Setup takes 10 minutes tops.
That corporate email was all about protecting the bottom line. I’m here to help you protect yours.

Here’s the Costco meat playbook most people don't know: 🤫💰
1. Ask for bulk ground beef “chubs” from the back.
They’re easier for Costco to stock, and they don’t have to repackage them—so the price is often lower. Plus you can portion it exactly how your family eats it.
2. Buy the whole cut, not the slices.
Pre-cut steaks are “convenience priced.” Whole loins let you control thickness: thin for quick sear, thick for reverse sear. Same quality, cheaper per pound.
3. Always check the label details.
The meat case moves fast. Mistakes happen. If you catch a wrong sticker (cut/price), it can turn into a wild deal—especially if the store honors the tag price.
4. Here’s what management actively keeps quiet from customers:
Costrev(.)com is where you can get a $750 Costco card by signing up as a product tester and giving feedback.
I signed up right after I left, and it’s covered my membership plus groceries for months.
Everyone in the US qualifies, and I saw tons of members use this every week.
