Have you noticed more hair in the shower since starting a GLP-1 medication?
A recent study found that GLP-1 users experienced approximately 7 diagnosed cases of hair loss per 1,000 people each year. The rate was around 4–5 cases per 1,000 among people taking other diabetes medications.
So yes, researchers found a slightly higher risk but most people did not develop diagnosed hair loss.
The medication may not be directly damaging the follicles. Rapid weight loss, eating too little protein, nutritional deficiencies and physical stress on the body can trigger increased shedding several months later.
This is often different from strand breakage caused by dryness or rough handling.
Moisturizers, conditioners and oils can help protect your strands and reduce breakage, but they cannot correct an iron deficiency, thyroid problem or medication-related shedding.
If you’re experiencing sudden or excessive shedding, talk with your healthcare provider about your nutrition, weight-loss rate, iron levels, thyroid function and other possible causes.
Please don’t stop prescribed medication without speaking with your doctor.

💧 One Simple Habit That Can Help Your Hair Stay Moisturized Longer
If your hair seems dry just a day or two after wash day, your routine not your hair might be the problem.
One of the best things you can do is apply your leave-in conditioner while your hair is still soaking wet or very damp. Then follow with a cream or oil to help seal that moisture in before your hair has a chance to dry out.
This one small change can help your hair stay softer, feel more manageable, and reduce breakage over time.
✨ Healthy hair is built through consistent habits not complicated routines.
👇🏾 When do you usually apply your leave-in?
• On soaking wet hair
• On damp hair
• After my hair has already dried

Have you ever finished wash day, moisturized your hair, and by the next day it already feels dry again?
I hear this all the time, especially during the summer.
If you live in the South like many of my customers, the heat, humidity, sun, chlorine, and even sweat can leave your hair feeling dry much faster.
But here’s something many people don’t realize…
The way your hair holds onto moisture depends on your hair porosity.
💧 If you have LOW porosity hair:
• Apply your leave-in while your hair is soaking wet.
• Deep condition with heat for 20–30 minutes to help moisture get into the hair.
• Choose lightweight products that absorb easily instead of sitting on top of your hair.
💧 If you have HIGH porosity hair:
• Apply your leave-in while your hair is still damp.
• Layer a moisturizing cream on top.
• Seal everything in with an oil or butter to help slow moisture loss.
• Deep condition every week to help strengthen and smooth the cuticle.
One thing I always remind people…
Healthy hair isn’t about buying more products.
It’s about understanding what your hair needs.
💚 Question for you…
Do you know your hair porosity?

Your hair may not need another product. It may need a better routine.
When hair feels dry again shortly after wash day, the real problem may be moisture retention. High porosity, heat damage, buildup, hard water, and inconsistent care can all make it harder for your hair to hold onto moisture.
A healthy routine should help you:
✓ Cleanse without stripping
✓ Restore moisture
✓ Deep condition regularly
✓ Seal moisture into the hair
✓ Stay consistent long enough to see progress
Healthy hair starts with understanding what your hair needs, not guessing and buying more products.
