It’s still too hot to cook -
Caprese - rhymes with easy - slice tomatoes, some basil and cheese - we didn’t have the fancy burrata, just Mozzarella, but regular shredded was just fine. Olive oil - And everything is better with the pine (nut)
Corn - grilled outside. Tad butter, tad mayo, and any herbs sitting around. Our Gardyn plant stand makes that easy. Show you that later
Grill- I made the hubby cook outside. Because its hot for me! Thanks to him for bearing the heat - and enjoying the sunset.

Too hot to cook?
Nothing in the house....
Doubt there is nothing
reframe what you have
The end days of some romaine lettuce
Chips of watermelon
A bit of pork loin
A honey coated jar
Staples - vinegar mustard pine nuts feta -
And voila!
Warm pork and watermelon with feta and pine nuts on romaine with honey mustard dressing

You say potato
I say patato
You say tomato
I say tamato....
We had planned a trip to Spain for the eclipse this year, but with the new practice, it wasn't in the cards. But with these Farmers Market bargains will bring a little Spain hot weather food to us.
Bargain bulk tomatoes – four dollars for the whole Organic bag of them since they were in the bump and bruise pile will soon be gazpacho (once I get a cucumber deal - in the meantime, they'll keep Great frozen whole in our recycled plastic Ziploc bags )
And a Spanish tortilla is going to get on that cooking rotation list. Also great served cold or at room temperature.

The best non-toxic way to get rid of fruit flies!
Why spend so much time to shop for clean, pesticide free foods only to add them in the home
PPC is all about the having lots fresh food at the ready to cook . We’ve got it stored all over the place -
When it’s in sight we are more likely to cook from stratch at home, which invariably will be healthier -
But with an abundance of fresh produce, sometime comes those pesky fruit flies. Especially if we get behind on our cooking... some overripe fruit might draw those flies.
These pretty little jars from Etsy are the solution
Just fill with a little cider vinegar and fruit flies can’t resist - they zip in through a micropore and then get stuck -
As for the fruit fly sign - it just means it’s time to bake, or preserve differently (or compost if the first two aren’t possible ) but more on that later.

Happy Summer Solstice!
Our goddess below represents Spring into Summer seasons
Apples fade away and grapes make an entrance
Broccoli and Brussels becomes less abundant and green beans become sweet and tender
Stone fruit abounds and the last of the lilies nod goodbye
May your longest day be a lovely one -

Slipping into summer - local watermelon, fresh corn, and staples for the grill.
Beautiful stone fruit now available, but we ate most of it before the photo except the plums which need to soften
With the teen traveling for sport, a sparse haul was in order -
