This is why I tell my clients that sometimes… well most times 😅, A cover up need more than one pass on the grey zones.
I don’t love cover-ups.
They restrict the design before the project even begins. The old tattoo determines how large, dark, and detailed the new piece needs to be.
A proper cover-up isn’t just a darker image placed over the existing tattoo. It requires structure, saturation, contrast, and compromise. In some cases, laser removal or lightening may be the better first step.
I’ll take on a cover-up when I believe the result will actually improve what is there.
