It’s Friday nite. But feels more like Saturday Night Fever. Can you dig it?

It’s been two weeks since I woke up to my car being stolen. I am usually a positive and fun spirit. But this knocked me down. Anyone that has been divorced knows that financially, you are in a hole. Trying to repair. I’ve made decisions, really big ones to spend less, hoping to save for my future. As a single mom with three kids, I am blessed to have a great job and a wonderful family to help me.
💜Ever since my first car, I have worked hard to take care of of myself. In some silly way, my car symbolizes freedom. At 16, I could go anywhere I wanted to. Even though I never went far, I could choose my path. And when someone stole my car, I felt defeated. Stung.
💜I’m going to keep working hard. I still believe in goodness. And if you see my car in the passing, give her a kiss for me.
And yes Juan, I didn’t need a co-signer. Just a single girl buying a car by herself. 💅

I said YES to be a mama to three children, two are African American. I’m the first to admit I don’t know how to be a mother to children of a different race. Yes love is first and essential. But there is so much more. Here is what I try to do everyday for them.
🌟Ensure they know their heritage
🌟Take care of their skin and hair. It is different. Please don’t touch their hair. Offer a compliment as hair signifies so many things and it’s truly a work of art.
🌟We do daily affirmations. Love our black skin and hair. We are beautiful. We are smart. We are going to change the world.
🌟Empower them to know their worth in a world that can be cruel, but mostly just has sad ignorance.
🌟 Do my best to find books, toys movies and people that look like them as they form their own identities.
🌟Keep them safe, loved and included
There IS difference in color. White isn’t black. It is how we behave, believe, speak and act that should be kind and inclusive.
I used to tell my daddy, I’m going to save the world. He would tell me, that’s really hard. It really is. It’s hard as a mama to want the very best for your children in a world that might not see them past the color of their skin.
