Its really the simple things đ
I'm not a kids' hairstylist, but I do make an exception for my members' childrenâas long as they're able to sit through their appointment and behave well.
I started doing children's hair back in 1999, but in 2018 I made the decision to remove kids' services from my menu so I could focus on the clientele I truly wanted to serve.
Since creating my membership, I've been fortunate to build relationships with women who are committed to healthy hair and understand the value of consistent hair care. That's the environment I've worked hard to create.
The biggest challenge with offering children's appointments is scheduling. Between school and extracurricular activities, Saturdays become the only option for most families. Before I stopped offering kids' services, my Saturdays were almost entirely filled with children's appointments, and that took away time from the clients my business is now built around.
That's why I only accommodate my members' children on a limited basis and only when it's a good fit.
I believe every stylist should build a business that serves the life they want, not the other way around. What boundary have you put in place that completely changed your business? đŹ
Imagine being a hairstylist who doesn't have to chase clients because your membership is full... and now the only time you can take new clients is one Sunday a month.
A few years ago, I would've thought that was impossible.
Like most stylists, I believed the answer was finding more clients, posting more content, and filling every empty appointment. But the real breakthrough came when I stopped focusing on getting new people in the door and started building a system that gave my existing clients a reason to stay.
Today, my membership is at capacity. My weekly schedule belongs to my members, and new clients only have access to one Sunday each month.
This didn't happen because I went viral. It didn't happen because I lowered my prices. And it definitely didn't happen overnight.
It happened because I built a business around client retention, structure, and consistency instead of constantly starting over every month.
If you're tired of wondering where your next booking is coming from, my ebook breaks down the exact mindset and system that changed my business.

My mom's heavenly birthday is next week. God I can't believe it will be 7 years this October. The way my whole life took a turn I have got to be one of the strongest soldiers. I'm not even gonna get into it but I what I will say is grief has no timeline and it looks completely different for everybody. My mom was my everything, and even though my upbringing was tough, I wouldn't be a fraction of the woman I am today if it wasn't for her preparing me early. God knew that day on October 2nd 2019 would come, and that my life was going to shatter to pieces. But He also knew I would be ready, and able to face any challenge put before me. Man I miss this woman so much đ˘
That's why I honor her every year. She did not play about our birthdays and it was almost something special. And this year ain't no different! IYKYK đ
One thing I always tell my clients is this...
Hair growth and length retention are NOT the same thing.ojYour hair is growing whether you realize it or not. That's what your scalp does. On average, your hair grows about half an inch every month.
The real question is... are you keeping the hair that's growing?
That's where length retention comes in.
Think about it like filling a bucket with water. Hair growth is the water coming out of the faucet. Length retention is whether the bucket has holes in it. If the ends of your hair are breaking off as fast as your roots are growing, you'll never see any length, even though your hair has been growing the whole time.
That's why I don't focus on miracle growth products. I focus on creating healthy hair that can actually hold onto the length it grows.
Regular trims, consistent treatments, moisture, low manipulation, and staying on a routine are what help you retain length. That's exactly why my membership clients see such amazing results. We don't just hope your hair growsâwe create a plan that protects every inch it grows.
Healthy hair grows. Healthy hair retained is what gives you length.
