Could anyone’s family/loved one use this watch? We purchased it for my father to have better option for locating if/when wandering than an Apple tag on his keys, plus he has worn a watch religiously for years.

I think if we had made this move 6 months before it would have been great. He is not recognizing it as his so is putting it ā€œawayā€, along with the charger and I have spent more time looking for it than he has worn it on his wrist šŸ˜…

I think it would offer great freedom and independence to the right person. It even has fall detection (if you choose to pay for it).

Theora Care is the maker, you can look up all of the benefits of the watch on their site along with the service cost associated.

Their customer service informed me that transferring the watch to another person should be easy.

Along my journey with Alzheimer’s disease many have met, interacted with, seen photos and videos with my super adorable, sweet and loving DADmiral. It is from being public about his diagnosis that I have had the privilege of being trusted with many of your stories and the emotions that come along with this walk with all Dementia.

What I don’t want to overlook is my (our) first 5 years learning how to navigate this path. Enter our incredible Tass—my mother (mother to 4). 5 years ago (yesterday, June 12th) my mom took her last breath, in our family home in Atlantic Beach, FL. She left us with a lot of grief and sorrow, but also, armed me with 5 years of bonding with the DADmiral through her very own journey with Alzheimer’s disease. A large part of that journey was kept close to the belt. We were so clueless, sad, angry and in a lot of denial that only close confidants came to the house or were even consulted. It was hard, but we were a unit and my God did we adore that woman.

My mother’s illness (originally diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, which affects speech and mobility) was and is so completely different than my father’s. In some ways I am grateful for that, he’s so social and spry that we get to have fun together…but because of those things he could also be a danger to himself šŸ˜….

Caring for a loved one with any Dementia is the most Jekyll and Hide thing ever. It’s so rewarding and humbling but also the most exhausting and upsetting thing ever. Sometimes I wonder how long I can do it, the caring and the fighting…but I remember just how much my parents blessed me so I pick myself up and go to war against this villain all over again
