For four Black women, adopting an anti-inflammatory lifestyle meant paying closer attention to what their bodies were telling them and making changes that actually fit their lives. From migraines and PCOS symptoms to bloating, acne, and brain fog, each found her own way to rethink food, rest, stress, and movement without turning wellness into an all-or-nothing pursuit.

And that doesn’t have to mean cutting out the foods we grew up with. Nutritionist Dr. Keba Nyemb-Diop cautions against overly restrictive diets that unnecessarily eliminate culturally important foods, emphasizing that staples like collard greens, callaloo, and root vegetables can absolutely have a place on the plate.
