Nerve flossing is a gentle movement technique that helps the sciatic nerve glide more freely through the surrounding tissues. When the nerve becomes irritated or restricted, it can contribute to symptoms like pain, numbness, tingling, or tightness that radiates down the leg.
By improving nerve mobility, nerve flossing may help reduce irritation, improve movement, and relieve sciatic pain. Always move slowly and stay within a comfortable range—more isn't always better when it comes to nerves.
If sciatic pain is keeping you from training, working, or enjoying everyday activities, we're here to help.
Our recovery-focused Sports Massage Therapy sessions are designed to reduce tension, improve mobility, and help you get back to doing what you love. Book your session today and start your recovery journey.

Frozen Shoulder (Part 2)
In Part 1, we talked about gently placing the arm out to the side and using breathing to help calm the nervous system.
Now let’s go a little deeper into how to actually work with this position.
Start by slowly bringing your arm out to the side—only going as far as feels manageable. This is not about forcing range. It’s about finding the point where you feel a mild stretch or tension, but not sharp pain.
Once you’re there, pause.
Instead of pushing through, focus on:
3–5 slow, steady breaths
Letting your shoulders stay heavy (no shrugging)
Noticing if your body tries to “guard” or tighten
That guarding response is normal with frozen shoulder. The goal here isn’t to override it—it’s to gently show your nervous system that this position is safe to be in.
You might only hold this for 10–30 seconds at first. That’s enough.
Over time, consistency matters more than intensity. Small, repeated exposure to safe movement is what helps rebuild confidence in the joint and gradually improve range of motion.
We recently worked through this exact progression with a client in the studio, and starting this way made a big difference in how their shoulder began to tolerate movement again.
If you’re dealing with shoulder pain or stiffness, you don’t have to guess your way through it—getting the right progression matters.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) can make simple movements like reaching overhead, behind your back, or out to the side feel painful and restrictive.
We recently had a client come in struggling with frozen shoulder and limited range of motion. One technique we used was gently placing the arm out to the side and holding that position at a comfortable level—not pushing into severe pain—while taking 3-4 slow, deep breaths.
Why does this help? Sometimes the nervous system becomes protective and starts treating certain movements as a threat. By staying in a tolerable position and focusing on calm breathing, you can help teach your nervous system that the movement is safe, reducing tension and allowing the body to gradually regain confidence in that range of motion.
This is Part 1 of our Frozen Shoulder series. Stay tuned for more tips on improving mobility, reducing pain, and getting your shoulder moving again.

Sciatic pain can be frustrating, especially when it keeps coming back.
One tool that may help is nerve flossing (also called nerve glides). These gentle movements are designed to help the sciatic nerve move more freely through the body and may help reduce pain, improve mobility, and decrease nerve sensitivity.
While nerve flossing isn't a cure-all, it can be a valuable part of a recovery plan that includes movement, strength training, and recovery-focused massage therapy.
If you're dealing with sciatic pain, numbness, tingling, or tightness down the leg, give these gentle nerve glides a try and see how your body responds.

Sometimes the cause of your pain isn't as obvious as you think.
Many people come in saying, "I think I slept wrong," when the real issue may be coming from movement patterns, old injuries, muscle imbalances, overuse, or even compensation from another area of the body.
Pain is often the symptom, not the source.
At Armored Massage, we help identify what's contributing to your discomfort so you can better understand your body, recover more effectively, and get back to doing what you love.
Several of clients have told us that our office isn't the easiest to find. ☹️
We understand and we are sorry. Until we are in a larger space that's visable from the road, here are some tips to find our office.
In the same building as Muy Caliente, through the doors next to , or if you're coming through the back of the building, down from the parking garage, we are on the first floor in an office suite with a door with a keypad.
Once you book a session, you'll get the keypad code to come on back or relax in the waiting area.
We hope that helps! Let us know. We hope to see you soon!
Maybe that reason is completely random.
Or maybe you've been waking up stiff every morning. Maybe your shoulders have been tight for months. Maybe that old injury keeps reminding you it's still there. Maybe you've gotten so used to feeling sore that you've started to think it's normal.
The truth is, pain has a way of becoming part of our routine. We adapt to it. We work around it. We convince ourselves we'll deal with it later.
But your body isn't supposed to hurt all the time.
Whether you're an athlete training hard, recovering from an injury, or simply trying to move through life with less discomfort, there are ways to help your body recover and perform better.
I don't know why the algorithm brought you here today.
But if your body hurts, Stephen can help.
