Suki Hair Studio is moving to a new location in the West Bottoms

It's only 3 blocks away!

If you've been with me for awhile, thank you for continuing to follow me on my solo journey. If you're new here, welcome! The West Bottoms is an interesting, historic and for most of you, easy to reach location thanks to highway access. I'm happy to get to keep doing hair there!

I'm very excited to be joining artists, creatives and local businesses at my new space in the Hobbs Building at 1427 W. 9th St. #402, Kansas City, MO 64101. It is just on the other side of the railroad tracks north of my current building.

Below is a map of the building and the surrounding area, with parking options outlined in green. From left to right below in green: the alley on the west side of the building, a few spots directly in front of the building, the designated parking lot, and a small area in the same lot as the metal bird sculpture on the corner. There is other street parking, most of it limited to certain times, and while I've been saying for years that I've never seen parking enforcement in the Bottoms, parking in non-designated areas for longer than the posted times is at your own discretion.

The building has a lovely modern video entry system in front and back (if you need ADA access) that you will be receiving the code for the morning of your appointment, as it will be changed regularly. No more remembering codes!

Of course, I will be texting everyone reminders that I've moved prior to your first appointment in the new space, with a few more details about etiquette for this version of the studio, so expect to hear something along these lines again. I am currently finishing up our final days at W. 12th St. and will be starting at the Hobbs on August 5th.

Honestly though, just looking at them in the sun together made me feel warmer.

Hi! I don't want to stress you out further, but you know I'm right. Halloween ends, you blink and it's New Year's Eve. So this is your reminder if you've been super busy in the pumpkin patch or making your Barbie costumes or whatever: November and December are filling up.

Cool thing is, I have some spots this coming week (Wednesday 10/25 - Saturday 10/28) if you're overdue or want to get in before things really ramp up after Halloween.

🚨Reminder! Starting November 1st!🚨

Starting November 1st I will be going gratuity-free and my prices will be increasing by 20%. This is something I have been considering and researching for quite awhile.

I am a skilled professional with 15 years in this industry who brings the same level of service and care to every client, whether they’ve been with me 10 years or 10 minutes; I am not treating anyone differently or “working to earn my tip.” My work is as legitimate as that of any other industry and I deserve to be able to determine 100% of what I get paid. Not only is this the best way forward for my business, but it makes the client experience more efficient.

As always, I am open to discussing anything policy-related like this with you all because I think transparency is key to understanding. However, this policy is non-negotiable after November 1st.

For a few of you, your price will go up a little bit, for a few of you it will go down, but for the vast majority of you YOUR PRICES WILL NOT BE INCREASING AT ALL.

If you are worried about not being able to tip anymore because it is so ingrained in us culturally as Americans, I get it! I know this sounds corny, but if you want to tip me, please leave me a Google review if you haven’t, or refer people in your life who may be in the market for a new stylist. I have an amazing group of clients and a lot of that is due to many of you referring each other.
