Realness for this Monday morning… Two years ago this month, I lost my mom completely unexpectedly. I had just come back to work from maternity leave with Renn-she was only 3 months old. Rudi was 2.
My mom was my village. She was my best friend. She helped me get where I am today in every way.
And then she was gone. During my grieving, I had a choice: Do I fall into the darkness and never come out? Or do I allow myself to feel every bit of it, walk through it day after day, and then fight like hell to climb back out and truly live? What choice will honor her? What choice will honor ME? My family?
I miss her every single day. I talk to her. I look for her in every little part of this earth. I know she’s with me, helping me along. But that strength to keep fighting comes from within. It comes from how she raised me. She was a fighter, and I will be too.
THIS is life. The days are going by whether we realize it or not. The greatest gift we’ve been given is free will. You get to decide who you are, what shapes you, who you want to become, and what you want to leave behind. These “small” choices are what is shaping your life.
So… Who do you want to be?
Don’t forget to hug your people. Tell them you love them. We never know how much time we have.
