Hair loss affects 1/3 of women in their lifetime….including me.

I found my first spot one morning getting ready for work. I went to brush my hair and froze. I hadn’t noticed extra shedding and I hadn’t noticed the bald spot on the top of my head either.

I took a deep breath, teased the crap out of the top of my head, threw everything in a ponytail and went onto work.

While at work I hadn’t noticed extra a coworker start looking through my hair to see what they could find and how bad things were. I knew it was bad when the clips started coming out to clip my hair up to show me spots.

I not only had the top spot, but I had one at the bottom of my neckline that was bigger than the top. (Not pictured)

Over the next few weeks and months I eventually lost about a third of the bottom of my hair and the top spot spread to measure four fingers across.

It was devastating. I’m not only a hairdresser, but I’ve always expressed myself with my hair and now I was losing it.

It felt like losing a part of myself. I was constantly terrified people could see them. I had people checking my hair on a regular basis to see if more spots had shown up. I used root cover, eyeshadow, different hairstyles, anything to prevent them from showing.

Over time the hair began to grow back, but I still had the fear that people were looking at my hair a certain way. The worry and insecurity never left even when my hair came back.

Fast forward two years and I’ve gotten the spots again and it brings all the old emotions back to the surface and my husband is yet again checking my hair on a regular basis when I begin to worry about the severity of my hair loss journey this time around.

I don’t say this for sympathy, I say it to let you know that if you are struggling with hair loss and all the emotions that come with it that I understand. I genuinely understand and only want the best for you and your hair journey.

Here’s some basic facts about me:
👉🏻I’ve been doing hair for 9 years this year! It was never the plan to be in this career, but I find so much joy in it and I love that every day is different
👉🏻 I’m a mom of two
👉🏻I’m a lover of all things animals so if you have pictures of your pets I will absolutely gawk at them any time

Here’s some quirky facts about me:
💥 When I turned 18 I got to be in the room during a brain surgery
💥 I’m heavily tattooed, but have to look away and talk about the weather anytime someone takes my blood
💥 I can talk all day behind the chair, but if you meet me in a public setting I will more than likely avoid conversation at all cost- don’t take it personally, I’m just socially awkward 😬

IM MOVED! I’ve opened my own suite, The Hen House, and am now located at the My Salon South Suites in Knoxville!
