Blessing of the runners!
Courtney always attends the Blessing of the Runners in every Marathon she runs if it's offered.
This year in Chicago it was provided at Holy Name Cathedral, where our current Pope's parents were married...the officiant reported there would be 55,500 runners and 1.5 million spectators at the Chicago 2026 Marathon.
On a bracelet provided to each runner:
The runners were reminded to use the reading during their race from mass from Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
As well as the words MARATHON
M - May
A - All
R - Runners
A - Always
T - Tell
H - Him
O - Our
N - Needs
MAY ALL RUNNERS ALWAYS TELL HIM OUR NEEDS!
Let's GEAUX! Let's git it done!!!

’Twas the Night Before the Marathon
’Twas the night before race day, and all through the place,
Courtney was dreaming of running her race!
Her shoes were all ready, her outfit laid tight,
She’d trained for this moment from morning till night.
The kids all shouted, “You’re speedy and strong!
You’ve trained for this race for so very long!”
So rest up, dear runner, and sleep through the night,
Tomorrow you’ll run with all of your might!
With every step forward, with every stride,
We’ll cheer you on with love and pride!
So off to the starting line, go run your best,
You’ve got this, Courtney — now go ace the test!
Good luck, good luck, hip-hip-hooray!
You’re going to shine on marathon day! 🎉🏅
