Our Familiar Ways

It’s the first of the month. Let’s all Blow That Cinnamon for Prosperity and Abundance. Stay humble...Walk your path, and Stand in your Power.

For today’s Witchy Wednesday, we’re focusing on the Celtic Tree Calendar. Today marks the official transition into the Celtic Tree Month of the Ivy (Gort), which runs from September 30 through October 27. Because ivy is an evergreen that climbs and clings tightly to structures, ancient pagans viewed it as a powertul symbol of immortality, determination, and faithtulness.
In traditional green witchcraft, ivy is tied to the underworld and the thinning of the veil. It is associated with the deities Dionysus and Osiris.
Practitioners often use it in protection magic, or weave ivy vines into wreaths for their front doors to guard the home as autumn deepens.
“Like the ivy that clings and thrives, I welcome the shift into my life. The old fades out, the new takes root, Blessed be the autumn’s fruit.”

Blessed Tiwesdæg. Today we’re featuring one of our Veronese statues, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting one for today than the God Tyr. Tyr is the ancient Norse and Germanic god of law, justice, and the formal, honorable aspects of war. His name comes from the Proto-Germanic word Tiwaz (meaning “god” or “sky god”), sharing deep linguistic roots with the Greek Zeus and Roman Jupiter. Long before the Viking Age, it is believed that he may have been the supreme head of the pantheon before being superseded by Odin. May this day find you all well.
