A little fall refresh 🍂🍁
This annual touchup came with a gorgeous new red hair color, so we warmed up her existing microblading to complement it. Fresh brows always look warmer right after the appointment, but once healed, they’ll soften into a beautiful natural light auburn color—not quite this red.

The video is long, so I’ll try to keep this short: there are red flags when choosing a PMU artist.
Last night I performed an emergency saline removal for a woman who asked an established artist (someone she should be able to trust) for microblading. She left with thick, uneven powder brows she neither requested nor approved.
After hearing her experience from start to finish, these are the red flags I want you to know:
1. No paperwork or ID copy. These are part of the Health Department requirements for PMU services. If an artist skips them, leave.
2. No mapping approval. You should see and approve the brow shape before the procedure begins.
3. Dismissed concerns. If you say the color or shape is wrong, your artist needs to listen. Both women I’ve recently helped with removals said their concerns were brushed aside.
4. Unclear aftercare. Ask for instructions before your appointment begins. If clear instructions aren't provided, leave.
5. Makeup on fresh PMU. Fresh brows need proper cleansing and aftercare, not makeup to cover a result you didn’t want. While this suggestion might come at the end of a service, don't take it and raise your concerns.
Your face and your autonomy aren’t a joke. You decide what happens to your face. Our job is to bring the expertise, explain the plan, and respect your decision.

Very little natural brow hair, but she wanted to keep it soft and believable. Microblading gave her the shape and fullness she was missing without looking “done.” After healing the hairstrokes will be even softer, more pixelated, and less crispy for that true brow hair result. ✨

I took the scary leap, built So Pretty It Hurts, and helped create The Spa Collective—a woman-owned, woman-operated space full of women building something of their own.
It was scary. It still is sometimes. But I love what we’ve built, and I’m damn proud of it.
