🤝My why and how I work to harbor a safe space for myself in the process…

🔄Energy is healing.
🔄Hair is healing.
🔄Healing is energy.

I like to believe that my work is a way of alchemy to a persons well-being. Whether you’re just in need of a friend, a shoulder to cry on, someone to build up your confidence, or a steady hand into a new version of yourself, let me and my craft be a part of your journey.

Hi, taking my own advice and showing up authentically at the end of the day. You couldn’t pay me enough to fix the lighting on this.

🪄 shoutout my genetic makeup for giving me every artistic ability humanly possible. Out here collecting expensive art hobbies like I’m hunting for infinity stones. (Artistic outlet gauntlet edition? 👀 gotta catch em all? Maybe win a lil prize?)

Stay tuned to see if I pick up yet another one as I move through lap 25 around the sun.

⬇️What is your creative outlet or favorite way to wind down at the end of the day?

🥲 this is take I don’t even know on trying to post this. So here’s my attempt at making it quick.

My why: I picked up a safety pin, red lip gloss, and Elmer’s glue at 13. Graduated to gorey, gruesome, pearl clutching monsters and masterpieces. My grandfather headed costume and makeup at Mystery Manor along side Wayne Sealy in the early years of the haunt. He taught me all he could and was there to give me pointers when needed. He was always my biggest cheerleader and inspiration. I acted and did some makeup at Eagle Hollow Scream Park highschool through college. I’ve won some awards over the years through the haunt, contests, and the like.

I’ve recently gotten to do some FX film work under Brent Scott Maze (check out his films and especially the trailer for Mycellium!). FX makeup will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s been a big constant in my life for well over a decade. It’s how I honor and remember my grandfather. It’s me at my most individual being as an artist.

If you’d like to checkout my work head over to Julianna Karnish to checkout some of my portfolio. (If you’re easily squeamish, scare easy, or don’t do 🩸 I suggest sitting this one out. 🖤)

⬇️What are your side hustles or hobbies?

🪄Let’s circle back to that conversation about finding your whimsy and pouring back into YOU.

For my 25th birthday I bought myself my favorite childhood video game. It’s called Hello Kitty and Friends: Big City Dreams. In this game you play as Hello Kitty. You start in a one bedroom studio apartment and have to work your way up to the penthouse suite. Sounds easy right? How do you do this: you work to earn friendship points by helping out other characters in the game. Each tasks earns you various points to buy clothing, a bigger room, train tickets, etc. and there a certain areas that don’t unlock until you reach the penthouse level.

Why this relates: it’s literally a game of life. Whether it’s your career path, community network, family foundation, or the road back to yourself, there are always levels to be cleared and points to be earned. Each level brings lessons, losses, wins, and connections.

Throughout my career in hair up until this year I had always at least one person in a salon that I could connect with on a personal level, but not really a true sense of community. I am grateful and blessed to be able to say I have found community at Salon Voe. I’ve talked about it before and I honestly will keep talking about until I’m blue in the face or someone gets me to shut up.

Community and connection is SO important across all aspects of life. It can bring wonderful opportunities, but it also brings healing and happiness. Nothing beats getting to have a full belly laugh or panic episode with people who see you in action several days out of the week. The comradery is necessary for balance.

⬇️ Where do you find your community or how do you reconnect with your inner child?

Maybe it’s with bright vibrant hair that you’ve always dreamt of, or you’ve always wanted hair like a favorite actor or cartoon character. ⬇️

🧖‍♀️ SELF CARE CHECK POINT 🧖‍♀️

My brain and nervous system are feeling a little frazzled. 😵‍💫

This is an official alarm and sign to take a moment to yourself. No matter how big or small, come back into your body and mind.

I think those of us who are empaths and givers sometimes care so much and love life around us so much, that we spread ourselves a little to thin and forget that we’re humans too and have needs.

⬇️What are you doing to take care of you this week? Is it time for some salon TLC? 🫶🏻
