I was a fresh 16-year-old when I started cosmetology school, and I still remember doing my very first practice facial. I had no idea at the time, but during that facial, I found what I wanted to do with my life. My love for this profession started long before I ever held a license.

And I think if you could’ve told that 16-year-old girl what her life would look like today, she would’ve had a hard time believing you.

There’s a lot about this career that people never really get to see. The hours spent studying, practicing, researching, investing, and figuring things out through trial and error. The pressure we put on ourselves to get every little detail right. The appointments we still think about long after we’ve gone home. The amount of work that goes into making something look effortless.

And then there’s the side of it that has nothing to do with beauty.

I’ve watched clients get married, have babies, change careers, lose loved ones, and go through some of the biggest moments of their lives. I’ve laughed with people, cried with people, celebrated with them, and listened when they just needed someone to talk to. You learn a lot about life when you spend years sitting with people and listening to their stories.

Appointments become so much more than a service. And I don’t think that’s something you can fully understand until you’ve experienced it.

Of course, there are hard days, too. Days when your body hurts, your schedule is overwhelming, something doesn’t go as planned, or you question every decision you’ve made. Owning a business has shown me an entirely different side of the industry, and I can promise it’s not all pretty rooms, cute supplies, and making your own schedule..

But even knowing everything I know now, I would still choose this career.

It’s pretty special to look back and realize that something I fell in love with during a practice facial as a teenager eventually became my livelihood, my business, and such a big part of who I am.

I’m proud of the years I’ve put into this profession, the people it’s brought into my life, and the women I get to share it with at Killer Esthetics and outside of these walls.

I just want to apologize to my clients whose appointments I had to cancel today. ❤️

If you’ve been coming to me for any length of time or if you know me at all, you know I do not cancel appointments unless it’s absolutely necessary. In the 7 years I’ve been doing this, I can count on very few occasions that I’ve had to cancel on my clients, so I genuinely hate having to do it.

Unfortunately, today was one of those days where my health had to come first, whether I liked it or not. 🥲

To everyone I had to cancel on, I am so sorry for the inconvenience, and I promise I’ll do my best to get everyone rescheduled as soon as possible.

And to those who have messaged me about appointments, I’m not ignoring you! I just need a little time to rest and recover, and I’ll get back to everyone as soon as I’m able.

I appreciate your patience and understanding more than you know. I truly hate having to inconvenience anyone, especially those who trust me with their time and appointments. Thank you for always being so good to me. ❤️
