🕊️I’m having major gender affirming surgery with the renowned Jan 23, exactly one month away! What a way to start the new year!
Closing this year out, especially with Christmas around the corner; I would love nothing more to go into the new year with surgery cost paid in full. I have about $4K left in cost before my surgical cost are paid for.
For those who may be aware I was laid off this October. October 5th to be exact, one day after my consultation with after waiting months to get a consultation and confirming a surgical date. For those who don’t know, Dr Bowers is a highly sought after surgeon who is scheduled out for the next 3 years so to get a surgical date sooner is nothing more than a miracle.
I’m grateful to have insurance cover the bulk of the surgery. I’ve been applying for scholarships and grants to cover the rest but nothing has come in yet. I’m a month away so I thought I would share my journey with you all with hopes of your support.
My surgeon suggested taking 3 months off from work to prowling heal so I will not be able to start a new job until about April. But I can not wait to beyond back to what I love in the spring.

Forever

I used to dream about the days when I could live in Los Angeles and attend Pride as a teenager, back in Polk County. I stared out of my bedroom window at the empty street that encompassed the 3 houses in my neighborhood which were surrounded by orange grooves. I was addled in depression and loneliness as I didn’t have anyone who truly understood me or shared my lived experiences as someone trans.

My neighbor told me I would never make it to Los Angeles because it was too expensive. I had dreams to make it to Hollywood and be an actor. I held onto that dream.

Life found me in Los Angeles in the fall of 2016. It was a random trip to visit my best friend that changed the course of my life forever.

Now Los Angeles is my home and I get to experience pride every year. I’m finally living out my childhood dreams. I can finally be the girl I dreamt of and live a life that feels so authentic to me.

So glad I didn’t let others imposed limited beliefs impact my dreams. I get to live them now.

I'm not going to get to emotional but growing up I had the worst self esteem. I didn't have or I was an teen plagued with awkwardly tall (5'7 but I grew up with my grandparents who were both shorter than me) and skinny (which was not embraced in the culture growing up). None of the kids growing up in that small country town looked like me, spoke like me or came from my background. I was a raisin in a rice pot of blonde hair and blue eyes which was the beauty standard. I didn't measure up to that but here I am as an adult being recognized for my own in all of my my and my is for the win and I love it! I too can be land a beauty campaign and I'm so happy for that. ❤️
