life lately, behind the scenes at KI-OKU ♥️

I’ve been a little quieter on here lately, but I promise it’s not because things have been quiet over here. Quite the opposite, actually.

The last few weeks have looked a lot like this: filling, labeling, boxing, spilling things 🙃, packing, prepping, and somehow turning every available surface in my home into part of the KI-OKU production line.

I’ve been deep in production getting ready for FUMED, working on the new scent, restocking the collection, and trying to keep up with everything else that comes with running this little brand.

And yes, I recruited my mom while she’s visiting 😂♥️

So if I’ve been a little MIA, this is where I’ve been.

Very tired. Very grateful. Surrounded by an unreasonable amount of perfume.

It’s been a little while since I introduced myself here, and there are quite a few new faces around, so hi again 🤗

I’m Liv, the founder and perfumer behind KI-OKU. I formulate every fragrance myself, make everything in small batches here in Los Angeles and, because KI-OKU is still a very small independent brand, wear a slightly unreasonable number of other hats along the way.

A lot has changed since the last time I did one of these, but the reason I keep doing it hasn’t: I genuinely love creating things that feel true to me and then watching them find their way to people who connect with them.

So whether you’ve been here for a long time or just recently found KI-OKU, I’m very happy you’re here ♥️

Atlanta, what are you smelling first?

You asked. And asked. And asked. So I listened ♥️

The response to Undercurrent was something I genuinely didn’t expect. After it sold out, I received so many messages asking if there was any way to bring it back. And while Undercurrent is, and will remain, a Limited Edition, I wanted to give those of you who missed it one final chance.

So, for one week only, August 31st - September 6th, Undercurrent will be available to pre-order.

A few important things before you order:
• This is a pre-order, not a restock.
• Orders placed during this window are expected to ship in approximately 10-11 weeks. Perfume takes time, and I won’t rush the process.
• Undercurrent will only be available to purchase during this pre-order window. Once it closes, it closes.
• This does not mean Undercurrent is joining the permanent KI-OKU collection. It remains a Limited Edition, and there are no plans to bring it back again after these pre-orders are fulfilled.

In other words: please shop thoughtfully, and only order if you’re comfortable with the wait ♥️

I’m incredibly grateful that this little scent found so many of you. I thought its chapter had already closed. Apparently, it needed one last page.
