Keratosis Pilaris is a harmless skin condition that can be seen as little tiny bumps on the arms, thighs, buttocks and sometimes on the cheek and face. The bumps are usually skin colored or whitish gray and they are usually confused with acne. The area may feel dry and rough.
When I was about 10 years old I started getting keratosis pilaris on my cheeks! I had little bumps that caused my skin to get dry and always red! The doctors prescribed creams but nothing seemed to work! Then a couple years later it moved on to both my upper arms. I was so insecure about it! I did not want to show my arms at all! 😫it wasn’t until I was In beauty school, working on skin and learning more about it, that I had the knowledge to know how to deal with it. When I was little I would try scrubs thinking I needed to keep exfoliating but it made me arms super dry! I still have bumps here and there, but I have learned to live with it & treat it. I don’t mind it at all anymore 😋
If you have Keratosis Piliaris like me, let me know how you have learned to treat it 😽 Remember THIS IS NOT ACNE! DO NOT TRY & SCRUB IT OFF. THIS ALSO IS NOT EXCEMA. They can look similar but they are not the same.
Instead do this.
- Keep your skin well hydrated always!
- Exfoliate lightly products containing AHA such as glycolic/ Lactic Acid 💐
- Avoid scrubbing the bumps with harsh scrubs and harsh brushes, this can irritate the skin and make it worst.
- Avoid scratching and picking at the bumps! This can cause a bacterial infection 🦠😱
- WEAR SPF ALWAYS 🧴
