What professional estheticians in the United States, the European Union, and the Baltic States have in common:

They made the same choice about their primary extraction tool.
The Preston Comedone Rxtractorยฎ is made in the U.S. and distributed internationally through Elevate.

The material is the same. The design is the same. The standard it was built to is the same.
High-hardness stainless steel.

Designed by Douglas Preston โ€” the same person who trains on it, teaches it, and has used it for over 40 years.

Built for licensed estheticians who specialize in congestive acne.
Geography changes. The standard doesn't.

Pricing conversations feel different when you're a specialist.
A generalist works in a crowded market.

Services are similar, schedules are similar, and clients choose based on availability and rate.

Discounting is common. Holding a price is hard.
A specialist works in a different position entirely.

When you're the esthetician in your area who treats congestive acne โ€” with the training, the tools, and the clinical framework โ€” clients aren't comparing you to the nearest spa.

They're looking for someone who can actually address their condition.
That changes what you can charge, and how you hold it.
Learning that skill โ€” not just the clinical side, but the business side โ€” is part of building a sustainable esthetics practice.

Every extraction you perform starts with something you can't see.
The sebaceous follicle produces sebum continuously.

Under normal conditions, it exits the surface without obstruction.

When dead cells accumulate at the follicle opening and sebum thickens, the flow blocks โ€” and the material compacts below the surface.

That's what you're working with.
Understanding this mechanism changes how you approach both preparation and extraction.

It explains why softening the follicle before introducing any instrument isn't optional.

It explains why applying force to a follicle that isn't ready produces inconsistent results and skin trauma.
Treating congestive acne without understanding what's happening inside the follicle is working blind.

That's the nature of the condition.
Congestive acne develops over time, and it resolves over time โ€” through a series of consistent, well-planned treatments.

The esthetician who explains this clearly in session one is the one whose client books session two, three, and four.
Managing a client through that series requires more than extraction technique.

It requires understanding what the skin is doing between appointments, how to adjust the approach as the condition progresses, and how to keep the client engaged in a process that takes patience.
That clinical and practical depth is what separates an acne specialist from a general esthetician who also does extractions.

The Congestive Acne Therapist Certification covers both.

A surface-level intake tells you what the client wants.

A clinical consultation tells you what the skin actually needs.
For congestive acne, those two things are rarely the same.
A thorough consultation identifies what type of congestion you're dealing with, what's been applied to the skin and for how long, and whether extraction is even appropriate that day.

It also sets the client's expectations โ€” which directly affects whether they follow through on the series.
That level of assessment isn't instinct.

It's a trained clinical skill.
Estheticians who specialize in congestive acne don't guess at the consultation.

They have a framework โ€” and it's what makes their results consistent across clients, not just occasional.
The Congestive Acne Therapist Certification covers analysis, treatment, and the consultation structure that ties them together.

Online learning delivers the knowledge.

Hands-on training builds the skill.
The in-person Mastering the Art of Comedone Extractions class puts you in the room with Douglas Preston โ€” working on real skin, with real-time correction, using the Preston Comedone Rxtractorยฎ from the start.
There are things about pressure, angle, and technique that a video can describe but not teach.

The moment you feel the difference โ€” that's what changes how you work.
Available as a group class or a one-on-one session in Northern California.

Two clients sit in your chair with acne.

One needs extraction.

The other doesn't โ€” at least not today.
Congestive acne is a follicular blockage problem.

The sebum is trapped, the follicle is congested, and the skin responds to preparation and controlled extraction.
Inflammatory acne is a different condition.

Active redness, papules, swelling โ€” the follicle is irritated, not just blocked.

Extracting in this state adds trauma to an already compromised barrier.
Reading the difference before you begin isn't a detail.

It's the foundation of every acne treatment decision you make.
