We announced that DK Spa would officially open on March 1st, and clients could begin booking appointments. Sending that announcement out was a little scary. I had so many questions running through my mind. Had I taken too long to open? Would clients follow me? Would anyone book? At that moment, I had far more worries than positive thoughts.

Thankfully, I was wrong.

Almost immediately, clients started booking appointments, and I realized I had made the right decision. Seeing those bookings come in gave me confidence that all the hard work, planning, and sacrifices had been worth it.

My next question was, "How do I keep bringing in clients?"

To help attract new clients and give existing clients something to look forward to, I decided that DK Spa would offer monthly specials. We also started participating in local festivals and events to introduce more people to the business. Another exciting step was creating the DK Spa product line, including candles, soaps, lotions, and other spa-inspired products.

The business was growing, and things were staying steady. In many ways, running a business seemed easier than I had expected. However, there was one area that continues to challenge me every day: finding new clients.

Marketing and client growth are things I am constantly working on. Whether it's creating specials, attending events, building relationships, posting on social media, or trying new ideas, I am always looking for ways to attract new clients and help more people discover DK Spa.

Being a business owner means never stopping the work of growing, learning, and finding new opportunities. While it can be challenging, seeing clients walk through my door and trust me with their self-care makes every effort worthwhile.

While we were painting and building everything for the spa, we were also creating a website and deciding on services. I had to think about what I wanted to offer and how much I wanted to charge.

One thing I knew I wanted to do was offer monthly specials. One thing I learned while working at Trieva’s was that everything needs an expiration date. Because of that, all monthly specials and packages at DK Spa have expiration dates.

I also had to decide if I wanted to offer gift cards. I knew if I did, they would only be for a dollar amount. Another lesson I learned from Trieva’s was not to offer gift cards for specific services. If prices ever increase, you still have to honor the old service price, and that is not always the best for business.

We had two weeks to get everything ready and open, and only one week to get the website up so clients could start booking appointments. It was a crazy time, stressful at moments, but also such an exciting and amazing time.
