I had a client who had to cancel their fill last minute due to their flight being delayed multiple times.

According to my policy I should have charged her a cancellation fee and charged her for a full set because my next availability would have been weeks out…

Instead, I offered to lash her while I was training Mouna. I was very transparent and said Oliver may be there and the fill will take longer as I will have to help Mouna and show her lashing techniques. She was totally ok with that and grateful I could get her in.

Now many lash artists will say I should have held my policy and my boundaries but this is the thing….sh*t happens and we’re in the service industry! Now if a client reschedules constantly last minute then yea that becomes an issue!

I was able to create a loyal client base after 3 months of going back full time because of the clients experience! To newer lash artists…focus on the customer experience first! Clients are more likely to tell their friends about you if they lived their appointment not just if you created nice lashes!

I reopened full time in October after taking a 3 year break to be home with Oliver. I still lashes but very part time.

I was very nervous to just jump in full time again.

I’m glad I did! Working 3 months I was so booked I had to bring on other lash artists to help! I’ve been able to adjust my schedule to where I only work when he’s in school then I get the whole evening with my family!
