Permanent Makeup isn’t paint--and your skin isn’t a blank canvas..

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear in permanent makeup is the idea that a “touch-up” simply means adding more pigment wherever we want it.

If only it were that simple!! 😉

When you have permanent makeup, we are always working with what is already in your skin.

Your previous work, the existing pigment, the color, the saturation, the shape, the depth and even how that pigment has healed all matter when determining what can safely and realistically be done next.

And sometimes, the best answer isn't another touch-up!

Sometimes, it's correction.
Sometimes, it's lightening or removal.
Sometimes, it's leaving it alone and allowing the skin more time to heal.

✨️ Let's talk about color

For example, let's say you have existing brows that are a deep chocolate brown, but you decide you'd prefer a softer, lighter caramel brown.

It would be wonderful if I could simply tattoo caramel over the chocolate and have the brows become caramel.

Unfortunately, skin doesn't work like a coloring book.

Adding a lighter pigment over a darker, saturated pigment doesn't make the underlying pigment disappear. The existing color is still there, and the new pigment has to interact with it.

The final healed result is influenced by everything already present in the skin.

This is why I cannot simply “cover” a dark, saturated brow with a lighter color and expect it to heal as though the darker pigment was never there.

✨️ Shape matters too.

Another common request is:

“I want my brows a little higher.”

Or:

“I want them thinner.”

Or:

“I want a completely different shape.”

If there is already permanent makeup in the skin, I can't simply create a new shape wherever we'd like.

I have to consider the existing pigment underneath.

If the new shape requires tattooing significantly outside of the existing work, we may end up with two shapes competing with each other once everything heals.

And tattooing over the old shape doesn't erase the old shape.

This is one of the reasons why consultation is so important!!

✨️ And then there's the “my microblading lasted for years!” conversation…

I hear this one quite often.

Someone will tell me:

“My microblading lasted for years! I just need a touch-up.”

And sometimes that really is the case.

But most of the time when I actually see the brows, what I'm looking at isn't beautifully retained microblading 🫣

I'm looking at highly saturated, deeply implanted and/or blurred pigment that has remained in the skin for years.😬

And this is an important distinction!!

Longevity does not automatically equal good retention!

Permanent makeup is designed to soften and fade over time. When pigment remains extremely dark, dense, deep or blurred long after the original procedure, that doesn't necessarily mean the work was better or that your skin “held the pigment really well.”

It may mean there is simply a significant amount of pigment still present in the skin.

And when that happens, adding more pigment isn't always the solution.

✨️ Your skin has limits.

This is probably one of the most important things I want clients to understand:

We cannot keep adding pigment indefinitely.

Every time the skin is tattooed, we are creating controlled trauma and placing pigment into the tissue.

If the skin is already heavily saturated, continuing to tattoo over it can lead to additional trauma, further saturation and potentially less predictable healed results.

More pigment does not automatically mean better brows.

Sometimes more is exactly what we don't need.

So what happens when you come to me with existing PMU?

I look at the whole picture.

I'll consider:

• How much pigment is still present
• The existing color and undertones
• How saturated the skin is
• Whether the pigment has migrated or blurred
• The existing shape
• The depth and quality of the previous work
• How your skin appears to have healed
• What you're hoping to achieve now
• And what is realistically possible without compromising the health of your skin

From there, we can determine the safest and most appropriate path forward.

That might mean a new PMU procedure.

It might mean a color correction.

It might mean allowing more fading.

It might mean lightening or removal before new work can be considered.

And sometimes, it may mean that what you're asking for simply isn't achievable without addressing the existing pigment first.

My job isn't to tell you what you want to hear. My job is to tell you what I believe your skin can safely and realistically handle!

I know that isn't always the answer someone hopes for. Especially when you came in thinking, “I just need a touch-up.”

But I would much rather have an honest conversation at the beginning than create another layer of pigment that makes correction even more difficult down the road.

Think of your permanent makeup as a process, not a one time appointment.

Beautiful PMU isn't just about the procedure happening today.

It's about understanding the skin you're working with, respecting what has already been done, making thoughtful decisions about what comes next, and knowing when less is more.

Your skin is the canvas.

And unlike a canvas, we don't get to erase it and start over.

That's why thoughtful planning, realistic expectations and choosing an experienced artist matter so much.

If you have existing permanent makeup and you're considering a touchup, color change, shape change or correction, please don't assume you automatically need another touchup.

Let's look at what you actually have first.

Because the best next step may not be adding more pigment.

And that's okay! 🤍

Good permanent makeup isn't about doing more. It's about doing what makes sense for your skin! 😘

Freshly Filled 7D Volume Lashes 😍 My volume clients have excellent retention and I am a FIRM believer it is due to my technique, application and type of lashes used. Here's the scoop...

➡️➡️ My volume lash extension fans are HANDMADE!! Meaning, I'm taking multiple lash extensions and creating a tiny little fan, which then gets adhered to ONE natural lash. When doing handmade volume lashes, the base of that fan is loose or open until I dip it into the adhesive prior to attaching it to a natural lash, which means, during application, those little lash extension fibers wrap or 'hug' around the natural lash and cures strong and secure. This helps the lashes stay ON until that natural lash sheds on its own. 🥰

When Pro-Made or Pre-Made fans are used, these are fans already made and heat bonded or closed up at the base. These attach to the lash by being placed on top, bottom or the side of a natural lash....there is NO hugging or wrapping of the fan to that natural lash! I feel that without the wrap, there is more potential for pop offs and for the extensions to not retain their best. 😬

I have nothing against already made fans, I've used them myself in the past but Ive found with doing handmade, I am able to customize each individual fan and found that retention was better with the wrap technique.✨️

I love offering sets that are FULLY customized and that LAST! 💖

Volume Full Set $250
Volume Fills range $120-160

Most of my Volume clients come in every 3-3.5 weeks with 50-60% coverage remaining and book a 60 or 75 min fill.

✨ Thinking about waking up with beautiful, effortless brows? ✨

Microblading is a semi permanent brow enhancement technique that uses fine, hairlike strokes to create the appearance of natural brow hairs! It’s a great option for adding shape, definition, fullness, or simply giving your brows a more polished look all without having to fill them in every morning!

Sounds like a dream, right??! Well, I can make it happen!

💕 What to expect:

• A consultation to discuss your desired shape, color & overall look
• Brow mapping to create a shape that complements your features
• Individual hair like strokes are carefully created with a microblading tool
• Brows will heal and soften over the following weeks
• A follow up is REQUIRED around 8 weeks after the initial appointment

🥰 Who is a good candidate?

Microblading can be a great choice for those with sparse, uneven, over plucked, or naturally light brows, or anyone wanting to simplify their daily beauty routine!

➡️ Note: not all skin types are suitable for traditional microblading done with a blade, but may however be done with the machine. A consult is always best to determine the best technique for your skin type!

✨ How often do you need a touch up?

Results vary based on skin type, lifestyle, skincare routine, and aftercare, but many clients return for a color refresh approximately 1-2 years after their initial tattoo.

Ready to spend less time on your brows and more time feeling fabulous? 💕✨️

Message me to schedule your consultation!

One of my sweet clients missed an appointment yesterday and felt absolutely horrible about it even after I reassured her to not worry and was glad she was ok!

Today, she came in with a peace offering 🫴 some hand made gourmet chocolates she made during a chocolate making class on recent travels to Vienna Austria, straight from her personal stash! 😍🤩 I seriously feel so special that she gifted me these!! 🥰 Thank you, Barb! 💗 So kind and generous ✨️

Summer is finally here, and while we all love the sunshine, lake days, vacations, and outdoor adventures, the warmer weather can be a little tougher on your lash extensions! 😬🫣

Things that can impact retention during the summer months include:

🌊 Swimming in pools with chlorine

🚤 Boating, motorcycles, ATVs, and excess wind exposure

☀️ Sunscreen, bug spray, and other seasonal products around the eye area

💦 Increased sweating from heat, workouts, and outdoor activities

🌿 More humidity and sun exposure

💄 Applying and removing makeup more frequently

All of these things can lead to buildup on your lashes, which can affect retention and the overall health of your natural lashes.

✨ The good news? Proper cleansing makes a HUGE difference!!

My lash shampoo is currently on sale for $20 and includes:
✔️ Lash cleanser
✔️ Cleansing brush
✔️ Lash spoolies

One bottle will easily last you all summer long!

Not sure how to wash your extensions properly? I've got you covered!! I'll personally show you exactly how to cleanse your lashes so you feel confident caring for them at home.

And trust me... a good lash bath feels AMAZING after a hot summer day!!! 😍 Fresh, clean, fluffy lashes not only look better, but they retain better too!

If you'd like to grab a lash shampoo at your next appointment, send me a message or let me know when you're in.

Your summer lashes will thank you! ☀️✨

I've been a Microblading Artist since 2019, and one thing I firmly believe is that as a Permanent Makeup Artist, you should never stop learning, growing, and perfecting your craft!

My goal has always been to create brows that look like YOUR brows--just fuller, more balanced, and restored! 💕

True microblading should look natural. The hairstrokes should blend seamlessly with your existing brow hair and mimic your natural growth pattern. You shouldn't see bulky, thick strokes that overpower the brow—especially when they're fresh! Over time, as the pigment softens and settles into the skin, the strokes may appear slightly softer and fuller, but the overall result should remain natural and realistic.

Microblading is a wonderful option for those experiencing thinning brows, sparse areas, or simply wanting more shape and definition without having to fill them in every morning. The technique allows me to strategically place hairstrokes where fullness and coverage are needed while maintaining a soft, believable appearance.

Quality matters!! ✨

I believe in using only high-quality tools, needles, blades, and pigments. Not only is choosing the correct color for your skin tone important, but selecting the appropriate pigment formulation helps ensure beautiful healed results and long-lasting color retention!
