The third photo is not mine, but it’s an example of what it takes going from black box dye to blonde. You have to go through a process to remove all the warmth. It usually takes 2 to 3 sessions to finally get to a good place.

She had natural virgin roots that are about 3 to 4 inches which is a dirty dish water level 7 blonde. The rest is years of 4N box dye. She did two sessions of color oops at home. It helped to break the base, but it also left uneven blotchy spots everywhere which is normal for this process.
My goal today was to lift as much as we could without compromising the integrity of the hair. I used K18 for prepping. And after seven hours and nearly 7 bowls of bleach we were able to get to these results. The box dye literally stopped moving at this point.
We both were expecting her to walk out with red orange hair, but we far exceeded that.

Not bad at all for the first session. We have another one in late July. I can’t wait to work on more of the mid to end warm banding.
This was an intensive very detailed project. This is the full transparency of the process.

But I always love a challenge.
