There is something incredibly special about being asked to do a woman’s makeup on her wedding day. It is an honor we never take for granted.
From the moment you come in for your bridal trial, we are already thinking about your wedding day—your dress, your style, your skin, your photography, the feeling you want to create and, most importantly, how you want to feel when you look in the mirror.
There is so much thought and preparation that happens behind the scenes. We design your look to be gorgeous, long-lasting and photo-ready, while still making sure you look and feel like YOU. And we bring that same care to your bridal party so everyone feels beautiful and the morning feels relaxed, joyful and special.
But what I love most are the relationships that come from all of this.
Some of our clients first came to us as young girls preparing for prom. Then we are there for their wedding day. Years later, they come back for parties, family celebrations, photographs and special occasions. And then one day, their daughters walk through our doors to learn their first beauty routines.
That is when you realize this has never been just makeup.
We have been invited into so many beautiful chapters of our clients’ lives. We’ve watched them grow, celebrate, marry, become mothers and bring the next generation to us.
Those relationships are the heart of CARA.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this question lately.

What does it really mean to Live Life Beautifully?

I don’t think it’s about having the perfect life. I think it’s about creating a life that "feels beautiful to you."

Maybe it’s starting the business you’ve dreamed about.
Taking the trip you keep talking about.
Learning something new at 50, 60 or 70.
Taking better care of yourself.
Changing careers.
Falling in love.
Finding your confidence again.
Or simply giving yourself permission to want more.

For me, living life beautifully has changed as I’ve changed. Today, it’s about doing work I love, sharing what I’ve learned, traveling, creating, laughing—a lot—and helping other women recognize just how much they have to offer.

And I believe there is something incredibly beautiful about a woman who knows who she is, owns her talents and isn’t afraid to "step forward and be seen."

That idea has inspired something new I’m redesigning called "Looks to Lead™ More on that later…

Megan has grown her career by doing two things that every successful artist learns to do: continuously improve her skills and put herself out there.

Since graduating, Megan has worked at Universal Studios, on numerous film productions, freelance makeup jobs, and so much more. One of the things I love most about her story is that no matter where life has taken her or where she has moved, her makeup artistry skills have traveled with her.

Today, Megan is also a member of IATSE Local 798, opening the door to working on major feature films and television productions.

This is exactly why I believe so strongly in what we do at CARA Makeup Academy.

We don't want our students to simply finish a course and receive a certificate. We foster relationships with our graduates and create opportunities to gain **real-world experience**—assisting on bridal jobs, film productions, retail opportunities, freelance work, and hands-on mentoring alongside working professionals.

After more than 30 years as a professional makeup artist, there’s one thing I always tell my brides: your wedding photos are forever—your makeup should be timeless.

Here are my 3 Bridal Beauty Rules for looking absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day:

1. DON’T CHASE CRAZY TRENDS
Trends come and go, but beautiful never goes out of style. Your wedding day is not the day to experiment with an extreme makeup trend you may regret five years from now.

I love a classic soft glam—beautiful skin, softly defined eyes, flattering color and just enough glamour to make you feel extra special. You should still look like you… just the most beautiful version of you.

2. ALWAYS CHOOSE PHOTO-READY MAKEUP
Wedding makeup has to look beautiful in person and through the camera lens.
