Split ends traveling up the hair shaft! Let’s talk about it!

As we can see here the splits have traveled half way up the hair shaft.

Here are the top three reasons why this could happen:

Mechanical manipulation- excessive brushing, combing, heat styling and friction from styles such as braids.

Lack of moisture- dry, brittle hair is more susceptible to splits.

Chemical damage- over processing with color, relaxers etc compromising the protein structure.

The solution? Cut them and stop doing what’s causing them🤞🏽

A question that I typically get is, “How often should I trim my ends?”

Well my friend that answer varies as it depends on several factors such as:

Hair Goals
Hair Health
Hair Type and Texture
Current Damage
Styling Habits
Growth Rate

Whenever you’re getting a trim, please make sure the interior is being cut. I’ve seen it time after time where only the perimeter is cut and the interior is left to suffer causing more splits and breakage in the long run.
