Yes, this is real.
On October 2, 2026 the FDA posted an expanded recall from Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. of Chile for frozen organic berries sold at Walmart and Trader Joe's, because of possible contamination with E. coli O145.
The recalled bags:
Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend, 10 oz, UPC 7874211226, lots 6 031 01 and 6 041 01, best if used by January 31, 2028 and February 10, 2028.
Great Value Organic Blueberries, 10 oz, UPC 7874211213, lots 6 019 01, 6 040 01 and 6 163 01, best if used by January 19, 2028, February 9, 2028 and June 12, 2028.
Trader Joe's Organic Mixed Berry Blend, 12 oz, UPC 00977654, lot 6 051 01, best before February 20, 2028.
The Walmart bags went to select stores in 30 states plus Puerto Rico: AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI and WV. The Trader Joe's bag went to select stores in 26 states plus Washington DC.
This is the latest expansion of a recall that started July 3 with GreenWise organic frozen blueberries sold at Publix. The CDC linked that outbreak to 17 illnesses and 6 hospitalizations in Florida and Georgia, with no deaths, and declared it over on September 21. One earlier lot of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend was on the outbreak product list. The company says this new recall is a precaution based on traceback to the blueberries from the first recall.
E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin producing E. coli. The CDC says symptoms are severe stomach cramps, diarrhea that is often bloody, and vomiting, usually starting 3 to 4 days after swallowing the germ, and most people recover in 5 to 7 days. Some people develop hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure, which is most common in children under 5. The CDC says do not use antibiotics or anti diarrhea medicine for this infection, because they can raise the chance of HUS. See a doctor for diarrhea lasting more than 2 days, bloody stool, a fever over 102, or signs of dehydration.
What to do: the CDC says do not eat any recalled frozen berries. Throw them away or return them to where you bought them. Check the lot code and best by date on the bag.
To be fair: the new recall notice does not report any illnesses tied to these specific lots, and the company calls it a precautionary measure. The CDC says the outbreak itself is over. Only the lots listed are recalled, not all Great Value or Trader Joe's berries. Trader Joe's has posted the recall on its website; check walmart.com/recalls and traderjoes.com for the store notices.

Not all oils belong in your kitchen.
Oils like canola, corn, and soybean go through heavy processing and often carry hidden damage from heat, chemicals, and oxidation.
Stick to fats your body recognizes like olive oil, butter, ghee, and avocado oil. Simple. Stable. Real.
