We grieve visible losses. Hair loss is invisible grief - no cards, no casseroles, just a quiet erosion of confidence people are expected to hide.

Awareness month exists because this deserves to be spoken about, not whispered.

Tag someone who’s been carrying this silently.

August is Hair Loss Awareness Month - and most people have never heard of it.

Cancer has a ribbon. Mental health has a color. Hair loss affects millions and still gets treated like a vanity issue instead of a health one. This month, I’m using my feed to change that narrative.

Follow along all month as I break the silence - link in bio to start your own story.

Hair Care Do’s & Don’ts

Trichology Edition

✅ DO: Treat your scalp like skin
Healthy hair starts at the scalp. Cleanse regularly to remove buildup, oil, and debris that can clog follicles and slow growth. A balanced scalp environment is essential for strong, healthy hair.

❌ DON’T: Skip washes out of fear of hair loss
Not washing your hair does not prevent shedding. In fact, buildup and inflammation can worsen hair loss. Proper cleansing supports follicle health and reduces scalp irritation.

✅ DO: Use products made for your scalp condition
Dry, oily, inflamed, or sensitive scalps all need different care. Using targeted, trichologist-approved products helps calm inflammation and support optimal growth.

❌ DON’T: Overuse heavy oils or DIY remedies
More isn’t better. Thick oils and at-home “remedies” can clog follicles, trap bacteria, and create inflammation—especially if your scalp is already compromised.

✅ DO: Be gentle with brushing & styling
Use gentle tension, especially when hair is wet. Protective styles, proper detangling, and avoiding excessive pulling help prevent traction-related hair loss.

❌ DON’T: Ignore early signs of scalp issues
Flaking, itching, redness, excess shedding, or tenderness are signs your scalp needs attention. Early intervention makes all the difference in long-term hair health.

✅ DO: Think long-term, not quick fixes
Hair growth takes time. Consistency, patience, and a customized scalp routine are key to real, lasting results—this is about progress, not overnight miracles.

Extensions without the weight on your hair? Yes, it's possible.

Partial mesh integration is a way for clients with extremely fine hair or weak follicles to still wear extensions safely. Instead of attaching directly to your natural hair, I create a base of mesh and sew the extensions to that — so all the weight sits on the mesh, not pulling on your actual strands. That means you get the length, the fullness, the movement you want, without putting your natural hair at risk.

It's one of the only ways I'll add extensions for clients dealing with thinning or fragile hair, because protecting what you have will always come first.

In the last two photos, she's also wearing a clip-on topper — a great option for adding instant volume on top of the integration for special occasions or extra coverage on lower-density days.

Ready to see if this is right for you? Head to the link in my bio to book a mesh integration consultation.
