It’s been a while since I’ve been actually active on social media and I truly miss you guys!!! I’ve taken a step back with posting recently, not because I stopped loving hair, or my guests, or the community I’ve built around this career. If anything, I think I needed the space because I care so deeply about all of it.
Somewhere along the way, I started measuring how well I was doing by how busy I was. How much I was creating. How much I was accomplishing. And eventually, I realized I was pouring so much into my career that I wasn’t leaving much room for myself.
I started forgetting about my physical health, and pushing it to the side leading to a downward mental spiral. As some of you may know, I spent a lot of my life growing up in a room full of mirrors as a competitive dancer. Now I stand behind a mirror every single day in my career. This has not always been unhealthy, but it sure has not been helpful. Being in the beauty world, you’re also always looking for some way to physically change yourself just because you’re bored.
Being so wrapped up in these concepts without even realizing it quickly affected the way I see myself. And now it’s time I really take care and nurture my health, instead not for instant gratification but long term balance and happiness. Because health is absolutely wealth.

As hairstylists, we are constantly surrounded by this idea that we should always be doing more. More clients, more content creation, more education, more growth, more goals. And while I’m so grateful I have a career that I genuinely love, I’m also learning that I don’t have to run myself into the ground to prove that I love it.
Taking a step back has given me a lot of perspective. I’ve had to learn that resting isn’t failing, slowing down is not falling behind, and taking care of myself does not make me any less passionate about what I do.
