Here's a fun caricature of my great grandfather Newton Everett Shirer.
He started the Shirer Casket Company in 1914 after 28 years growing Orleans Manufacturing Co. into a behemoth in casket manufacturing.
Under his guidance, Orleans produced 40,000 caskets in 1910, selling those caskets from as far northwest as Oregon and Washington St. all the way to southern Florida and Cuba.
His father, my great, great grandfather started it all in Ohio in 1840.
The tradition continues....
