Living with goiter: My story and yours

A month After of surgery.

This is a month after the surgery. A scar that will remind me that things happen beyond our control. No doctor can explain why I developed a goiter and it grew on my right thyroid. All I know is to trust God to help me live according to His will and live healthily.

The sound of my cough after surgery is scary.

After nodule and thyroid removal, this is what my neck looks like.

It's my 3rd day after thyroid removal. Today, I noticed blurry near vision while wearing eyeglasses - an issue I didn't have before. Let's see if it clears up tomorrow.

After seeing 3 doctors for my goiter, I believed it would shrink. But all the doctors said the same thing: remove the right side of my thyroid so it won't get bigger and affect my left thyroid, making things harder for me and the doctor to fix.

Last month, I prayed: 'Lord, if this surgery is Your will, give me peace and acceptance that I'll live with one thyroid.' And finally, I decided to pursue the surgery.

I got my thyroid removed yesterday and I'm now in the recovery stage. Doctors will monitor me for 6 weeks to determine if I need to take thyroid medicine for the rest of my life. Abba God, please give me favor that I won't need thyroid meds.
