Anthony Mancinelli started cutting hair at 12 and was still working at 108, turning one trade into a 96-year career.

That longevity made an ordinary barber chair part of an extraordinary timeline.

Born in Italy in 1911, Mancinelli immigrated to New York in 1919 and began learning barbering at 11.

By 12, he was a full-fledged barber, when a haircut and shave together cost just 25 cents.

He opened Anthony’s Barbershop in Newburgh in 1930 and owned it for 40 years.

Guinness World Records later recognized him as the world’s oldest practicing male barber.

At 108, he was still working at Fantastic Cuts in New Windsor, serving customers across multiple generations.

Mancinelli stopped working in July 2019 and died on September 19 at age 108.

After roughly 96 years with clippers in hand, retirement lasted only weeks.

His career linked generations through the same simple craft.
