If you're recovering slower than expected, your gut could be one of the missing pieces.
Most people think recovery only happens in their muscles. In reality, your gut also plays an important role. It helps absorb nutrients from the food you eat, supports your immune system, regulates inflammation, and communicates with other systems throughout your body.
Together, these functions help create the conditions your body needs to recover after exercise.
Research also suggests that regular exercise supports a healthier gut microbiome, while a healthy gut microbiome may help support endurance, recovery, and overall athletic performance.
Here are four ways to support both your gut and your recovery:
✔️ Eat a variety of fiber-rich whole foods.
✔️ Stay hydrated throughout the day.
✔️ Prioritize 7–9 hours of quality sleep.
✔️ Exercise consistently and allow time for recovery.

Dry needling and Class IV laser therapy are a powerful combination for relieving pain and restoring movement.
Dry needling helps release tight muscles and trigger points, while laser therapy helps reduce inflammation and supports your body's natural healing process. Together, they can help improve mobility, speed up recovery, and get you back to the activities you enjoy.
Whether you're dealing with a sports injury, plantar fasciitis, Achilles pain, or persistent muscle tightness, the right treatment starts with finding the root cause.
Have questions about dry needling or laser therapy? Leave them in the comments or send us a message.

Your brain and nervous system constantly monitor your movements. If they detect pain, instability, or a previous injury, they may increase muscle tension as a protective response.
That feeling of tightness is often your body's way of saying, "I'm not confident this movement is safe." This is why stretching alone doesn't always provide lasting relief.
Improving mobility often involves more than increasing flexibility.
It may require:
✔ Building strength through your available range of motion.
✔ Improving joint stability and motor control.
✔ Restoring confidence in how your body moves.
✔ Addressing the underlying cause of pain or restriction.
When your body feels safe to move, mobility naturally improves.
If you've been stretching consistently but still feel stiff or restricted, the issue may not be your muscles alone. A thorough assessment can help identify what's really limiting your movement.

Your everyday habits play a big role in your overall health, mobility, and recovery.
Here are four simple wellness tips to help you stay active and feel your best:
• Drink water: Staying hydrated supports your muscles, joints, and overall health.
• Move your body daily: Regular movement improves flexibility, strength, and circulation while helping prevent injuries.
• Take breaks from your screen: Standing up and stretching throughout the day can reduce neck and back pain caused by prolonged sitting.
• Prioritize sleep: Quality sleep helps your body recover, repair tissues, and perform at its best.
Healthy habits don't have to be complicated. Small, consistent changes can improve your movement, reduce your risk of injury, and support long-term wellness.
If pain or limited mobility is keeping you from staying active, the team at Peak Performance & Rehab is here to help.

Grip strength is one of the simplest signs of how well you are aging, and most people never think about it until a jar will not open.
In a study that followed people across 17 countries, grip strength predicted the risk of heart disease and early death more closely than blood pressure did. Every small drop in strength was tied to a higher risk.
The reason is that your grip reflects the strength of your whole body, not just your hands. When it starts to fade, it often means muscle is quietly being lost elsewhere too.
The encouraging part is that grip and overall strength respond to training well into older age. Simple resistance work, carrying groceries, and staying active all help maintain it.
At Peak Performance & Rehab, strength is one of the first things we look at when helping people move better and stay independent as they age.
