They need to decide what defines a barrier better. Is the banner the barrier, white sticks, or both? This turn looks poorly marked. More sticks to clearly define route or use the banner as barriers..
Sure was easier when tracks had barbed wire fences and tractor tires lining the boundaries…. I mean we definitely knew when we were or not in bounds lol 😅

It’s always interesting to see Lucas Coenen and Haiden Deegan compared, but the context matters.

Coenen arrived in the premier class earlier, stepping up to the MXGP 450 category in 2025 and quickly proving he belongs among the elite. His experience on a 450 has given him a valuable head start in adapting to the demands of the sport’s highest level.

The comparisons to Jett Lawrence can be just as premature. Jett is already an established benchmark in the class, while Deegan is only beginning his 450 journey. Expecting a rookie to immediately match that level overlooks how steep the learning curve can be.

What Deegan has shown so far is undeniable speed and the willingness to challenge the front-runners. As the season progresses, experience, race management, and comfort on the bigger bike will continue to develop. By the end of the championship, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a much more settled and dangerous Deegan fighting consistently at the sharp end.

The talent is there. The process is just getting started.

A 7-position penalty may have changed the result sheet, but it may have revealed something even bigger about Haiden Deegan.

After being penalized for cutting the track in Moto 1, all eyes were on the young star. Critics expected frustration. Instead, Deegan delivered his strongest statement of the day in Moto 2.

No controversy. No shortcuts. No costly mistakes.

The rider who found himself at the center of one of the most debated penalties of the season responded with speed, composure, and maturity beyond his years. Rather than letting the setback define his weekend, Deegan bounced back and showed he can run with the elite of the 450 class when everything is on the line.

Ironically, the biggest story may not be the 7-position penalty itself. It may be how Deegan responded to it.

For a rider only a handful of races into his 450 career, Moto 2 looked less like a rookie learning the class and more like a future title contender finding his footing. 👀🔥💪🏻

"The penalty made the headlines. Deegan's response made the statement." 🚨🔥

🗣️ “You can read him like a book…”

That might be true for most riders—but not for Jett Lawrence.

After sweeping Thunder Valley with a perfect 1-1 performance, Jett admitted he never really found his rhythm in Moto 1. The scary part? Even on a day when he felt less than perfect, nobody could stop him. That’s the level the defending champion is operating at right now.

While Jett controlled the front and secured the overall victory along with the championship points lead, the real drama unfolded behind him. Riders were pushing beyond the limit, mistakes were costly, and battles raged all over the track. From Haiden Deegan’s charge through adversity to Lucas Coenen’s stunning U.S. Pro Motocross debut, Thunder Valley delivered action from start to finish.

So what was your highlight of the weekend? 🤔👇

🏁 Jett Lawrence proving that “not his best” is still good enough to win?
💥 Haiden Deegan fighting back after the Moto 1 controversy?
⚔️ Lucas Coenen announcing himself with a 2-2 podium finish on debut?
🔥 Or the all-out battles throughout the field?

He has a future in the 450 class for sure. No doubt about that. He’s going to need to stay on jet and study his riding, then he will see the weakness and strength and know where to put the bike.

06/14/2026

What’s he supposed to say? How Lucas was flying for a guy who’s never ridden at thunder valley, he wants to say he was up there with Jett. But can you say without a doubt that if not for that corner where he was making up that time would he have been that close to begin with? Here’s an even bigger question, why is it that Deegan fans want to say give him time and he will show Jett who’s boss, but Lucas Coenen shows up and in 2 days time he almost chased Jett down from a distant 4th place?

🚨 The Haiden Deegan Penalty Debate Isn't Going Away Anytime Soon.

Most fans agree that rules are rules, and if a rider gains an advantage by leaving the marked course, a penalty is justified.

But the real controversy isn't whether Deegan deserved a penalty — it's whether a seven-position penalty was proportional to the violation.

Many supporters point to the fact that the line appeared heavily worn and had been used throughout the race, raising questions about consistency and enforcement. Others argue that once the course boundary is clearly defined, officials have no choice but to apply the rule.

One thing is certain: the decision transformed a strong ride into one of the most talked-about moments of the Thunder Valley weekend.

What do you think?
✔️ Fair penalty?
✔️ Too harsh?
✔️ Or should the rule have been enforced differently?
