I love creating gorgeous, flattering braids that use traditional techniques in unique ways! I first learned to braid when I was 10 years old by practicing on my barbie dolls and own hair, following a braid tutorial book my mom gave me. Over the years my main passion became Fashion & Textiles, which I studied in college and pursed professionally. I enjoyed taking crafts such as knitting, pattern-making, draping, and sewing and really pushing the boundaries on these traditional techniques. I experimented with using the materials in new ways, always with the end result being, not to shock, but to create something that felt natural, beautiful, and complementary - as well as a bit unexpected and fresh. A few years ago I realized I could approach hair the same way, as it was just another material. Like a textile, each head of hair was it's own unique material, varying by texture, weight, length and color.
