The place for care and connection in the Lower East Side and beyond since 1898.

Hamilton-Madison House is a non-profit settlement house established in 1898 to improve the quality of life for NYC. Located in Chinatown/Lower East Side Two Bridges neighborhoods, we foster the well-being of vulnerable populations including the elderly, children, the ill and handicapped, new immigrants and refugees and the unemployed. Hamilton-Madison House delivers critical, timely and culturally appropriate services for all stages of life.

Our CONNECT program hosted an incredible Pride month event, We Grew Anyways, in the Orchard Alley Community Garden last Thursday, June 25th. Guests were invited to design planters, and take home a seedling to nourish and care for. Much gratitude to our generous food donors: Elbow Bread Bakery (), Banh by Lauren (), She Wolf Bakery () and Liberty Farms (). Additionally, a special thanks to the Elements House () team for donating the seedlings, as well as to their social practitioner, who is also an herbalist, for providing medicinal education and re-potting instructions for our seedlings. And finally, we must thank Ayo Harrington and NYCParks/GreenThumb, for graciously opening Orchard Alley Community Garden to us. We are so grateful to all who attended and made the event a huge success. Happy Pride to all!

Our HMH older adults were invited to attend the opening ceremony of Centre 360 atop the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building. This civic space offers unbeatable views of their neighborhood in the Lower East Side along with the rest of the city. Thank you to DCAS Commissioner Yume Kitasei and Mayor Mamdani for the invitation and for pioneering this project!

Last weekend, youth from our LIFT program went on college tours to Princeton and Rutgers University! The trip gave them a chance to witness campus life and ask questions about the application process. We look forward to supporting them as they begin to plan for the path ahead 😊
