May is both Skin Cancer Awareness Month and AAPI Heritage Month, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how sun protection was talked about growing up.
In an Asian household, a lot of the conversation centered around avoiding the sun, but not always understanding why.
Now I understand it differently. Not from a place of fear, but from a place of care.
A childhood friend was diagnosed with skin cancer in her early 20s, and it changed how I think about SPF entirely. Since then, I’ve learned that skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., impacting about 1 in 5 Americans.
The encouraging part: most cases are preventable with consistent sun protection.
That’s also why we made sunscreen for everyday life: not just beach days, but rush hour traffic, 3pm matcha runs, and hot girl walks ☀️
The goal isn’t to fear the sun. It’s to protect your skin so you can enjoy more of it 🤍

all you have to do is save your receipt and submit it through your hsa/fsa provider! just make sure it’s broad spectrum and SPF 15 or higher

Today is Melanoma Monday 🤍
A reminder that protecting your skin doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, but it does have to be consistent.
A few things worth knowing:
- most melanomas are linked to UV exposure
- daily sunscreen use can reduce melanoma risk by ~50%
- when caught early, melanoma is highly treatable
SPF is about giving your skin the protection it needs so that the sun is fun ☁️💫✨
