We all hold onto certain habits. Some can help us build momentum, while others can keep us feeling stuck. Self-sabotage is one of those hidden patterns that can quietly pull us off track before we even notice.
At its core, self-sabotage can often stem from underlying fear. That might be a fear of failing, a fear of succeeding or a worry that you aren't enough. These responses usually develop from past experiences that were meant to protect you in the past, even if they limit your growth today.
You aren't stuck with these patterns forever. By cultivating awareness, practicing self-compassion and taking thoughtful action, you can shift your mindset and build healthier habits.
If you feel ready to step out of these loops and want extra guidance, our team is here for you. We offer virtual sessions alongside in-person therapy at our offices in New York, Tarrytown and Texas π« Head to the link in our bio or call (646) 798-2722 to connect with us! π We proudly accept United Health Care, Aetna and Lyra.

It's incredibly easy to unconsciously hand the pen over to outside opinions and expectations. But your mental well-being heavily relies on trusting yourself.
Everything gets much lighter and clearer once you pick your own direction, set firm boundaries and change your internal narrative. You don't need anyone's permission to be your authentic self π―

Anxiety can often operate in a loop that can be tough to break. A specific trigger can kick off a wave of worry, which is quickly followed by spiraling thoughts that can make the fear feel much bigger.
Your body might then respond with a racing heart or a feeling of restlessness. Trying to dodge the situation will offer some quick relief, yet it ultimately just trains your brain to keep fearing the trigger so the cycle can keep repeating itself.
If you or someone you love is looking for professional anxiety support, know that we are always here to help. Wellness Road offers virtual and in-person therapy in New York, Tarrytown, and Texas π Visit the link in our bio or call (646) 798-2722. Donβt worry, you don't have to completely vanish from the internet to get your peace of mind back. These simple adjustments can help you reset π
π΅ Make physical boundaries
Try keeping your phone out of your bed, the bathroom and the dinner table.
π΅ Use your app timers
See if you can stick to them since cutting back just 30 to 60 minutes a day can make a big difference.
π΅ Silence the noise
You can turn off unimportant notifications so your brain can get a break from constant pings.
π΅ Bring back analog hobbies
Try adding a screen-free activity into your day like reading, walking or playing music.
π΅ Stop splitting your focus
If you're watching a show, try to just watch it without swiping on your phone.
π΅ Clean up your feed
Unfollowing anyone who might trigger comparison, stress or pressure can be a great step.
π΅ Wake up offline
Starting your morning completely offline can give your nervous system a calm entry into the day.
π΅ Log off before bed
Ending your night the same way can help since scrolling usually won't provide actual rest.
Save this list for the next time your brain gets tired π

Depression has a habit of feeding us false stories about our own self-worth. When those low moments try to win out, you can try pushing back against the negative thoughts with a few supportive affirmations. Keeping in mind that your current headspace is temporary can help you trust that the heaviness can eventually lift.
Depression also often tries to convince us to isolate and suffer quietly, even though millions of Americans face the exact same struggle. You aren't alone and compassionate help is always available if you reach out.
