One of the most common things we hear is: “Just put me in for the full time. If I get too hot, I’ll just get out.”

Here’s the problem: heat and UV exposure are not the same thing.

The warmth you feel comes from infrared heat, while the tanning process comes from ultraviolet (UV) rays. By the time your skin starts to feel hot, your skin has already been exposed to UV radiation. Feeling comfortable doesn’t necessarily mean you’re tanning safely, and feeling hot isn’t an accurate indicator of when to end your session.

Your recommended tanning time is based on your skin type and is designed to help you tan gradually while minimizing the risk of overexposure. Trust the schedule. Your skin will thank you later.

Did you know that dry skin can reflect a significant portion of the UV light hitting your body? Think of dry skin like a mirror. When your skin is dehydrated, it doesn’t tan as efficiently because UV light is less effectively absorbed.

It can take several minutes for skin to warm up and become more receptive during a tanning session. Using a professional salon-quality tanning lotion helps hydrate the skin before and during your session, allowing for more efficient UV absorption from the start.

A good tanning lotion can help:
• Hydrate the skin for a more even tan
• Improve tanning results by reducing dryness
• Help your tan develop faster and last longer
