Kelly Lee had sooo much hair today! It was very heavy, so I took out a lot of excess weight, cut a good amount, texturized, and sculpted it into this gorgeous shape!

If you've been considering using Redken 10 minute color gels, or have used them and they went super dark and you were like, oh my goodness what happened.

The 10 min color gels can be a great option for you and your client in that it is most definitely a time saver!

Having said that here are a couple of things to be noted -
~ since it is a much quicker processing time, the colors are much more pigmented - (hence a darker result)
~ so based on the goal, just keep in mind, that the color will result in 1-2 levels darker. (9 will be more of a 7), (6 more of a 4/5) as examples.

Today's goal was to do gray coverage on her roots, keeping it very natural looking and complementary to her highlights. So I used mostly 9n with a capful of 5n making just a little over 1/2 oz because we only focus on the very front and top of the crown.

As a Stylist, I love hair transformations. I'm always excited for the before and after, whether it's doing a fun chop or color/highlights.

While I logically know what a huge difference a new cut and color can make, it wasn't until I saw my own before and after that I realized, Wow! What a difference! And what I did really wasn't anything dramatic. I didn't do a full head of highlights, but rather, it was really about placement. I mainly focused on the pieces of hair right around my face, and even more so, the underneath of the hair. I wanted to it pop especially more so when I did my soft waves. My goal was to add some lighter pieces to brighten up my face.

I did a thing! Peek a boo highlights!

No, I didn't record the application or what it lifted to 🙈, but I did take a Pic while it was processing. I will explain what I did to achieve this sun-kissed soft bronde tone.

I wanted a subtle change, some added brightness around my face, but also keep it low-maintenance.

So, I used my Wella Blondor Freelights with 30 volume developer. I hand-painted pieces, focusing on the underneath of the hair, so that it would peek through, especially more so when doing beach waves. Hence, Peek a boo Highlights 😊 I processed for about 45-50 min. It lifted quite beautifully, which is always nice, right!

I used 7n, 6nb, 6gi, and bit of 7m with clear for 20 min

I must say I'm loving the end result. A nice change, without doing anything drastic. If you're looking for something more subtle, easy to maintain, this may be the perfect option for you!
