This weeks recipe experiment is… Sourdough Pumpernickel!

Any guesses on the next recipe l need working on perfecting?? 👀

With October being breast cancer awareness month, I will be bringing my pink sourdough loaves back to the Sourdough Shack 🎀 These loaves are naturally colored using dragonfruit powder so there’s no artificial dyes, and taste like our classic sourdough loaves. 100% of the proceeds from these loaves will be donated to the Pink Tractor Foundation - as well as a portion of our regular proceeds! This local organization alleviates financial and emotional burdens for central Iowa cancer patients by helping cover everyday living and treatment expenses such as mortgage payments, groceries, gas, medical bills, travel, and lost wages.

We also donated a basket to Can Do Cancer for their silent auction and hope it does well to help raise money for another amazing local organization!

**SOLD OUT!**

I have two small pumpkin spice loaves and one big cheddar ranch loaf on hand - half price! Message me to claim for porch pickup 😊

With the weather forecast for next week I have decided to do a mid-week bread bowl and elderberry syrup drop!

Sourdough bread bowls for soup might = the perfect cozy comfort meal!

Elderberry syrup made with local elderberries and syrup makes the perfect immune system boost!

Norwalk and Winterset options!

Afternoon check-in! Still some sourdough loaves and cookies (including oatmeal cream pies!) available - a pumpkin bread, some apple butter, granola, and more!

🧀 The Cheddar Ranch loaves are good for grilled cheese, warmed up with soup, or to snack on while watching some football!

🌶️ Jalapeño Cheddar - A classic that can be used for anything from sandwiches to breakfast toast - also great for BLTs if you’re still chasing that summer flavor!

🧅 Gouda & Onion - Another great one for a fancy grilled cheese, with soup or stew, or with an egg on it for breakfast

🧄 Roasted garlic and Italian Herb - This one has always been popular and I’m surprised it’s still at the shack! I roast garlic cloves and spread them inside the dough and add herbs as I’m shaping - the smell alone will have your stomach growling 🤤

🎃 Pumpkin Spice - made with pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice maple syrup, and pumpkin spice seasoning - this one makes a delicious French toast! Or toasted with a little marshmallow fluff

The Sourdough Shack is stocked and open for the day! Lots of sourdough goodies including our newest loaves Cheddar Ranch and Chili Onion Crunch, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, our new apple c***r muffins, oatmeal cream pies, and more! We also have our summer pot kits and apple butter 🍎

Cash or Venmo Accepted!

Side note: Our basement construction is almost complete after our flooding 🙌🏻 So, soon you won’t be seeing our (what feels like) regular dumpster in the driveway when you stop by the shack 😅 That also means the bakery area is almost done with its remodel too so I’m excited to share the behind the scenes with you all!

I’ve been slacking today on photos and posting, but we have lots of goodies headed to the Sourdough Shack tomorrow morning! Sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, oatmeal cream pies, and new apple c***r muffins! As always, some other favorites like jams and jellies, apple butter, and more!

Open at 9am!
