Kind words from a long-time client ✨

When I was in massage school, I remember discussing frozen shoulder in class. My instructor said, “frozen shoulder disproportionately affects middle-aged women, and nobody knows why!”
That stopped me in my tracks. NOBODY knows? Nobody has thought to ask why mostly women were coming in, unable to move properly or dress themselves? I found it interesting (albeit a little disheartening) and partially credit that interaction with my decision to delve into neck and shoulder work post-graduation.

I have regularly been checking up on any frozen shoulder studies that focused on women for the last four years (spoiler alert, there weren’t too many), so I am beyond thrilled at the recent scientific acknowledgment of the role menopause plays in joint pain. I have come into contact with many clients over the years who were being told over and over again that their frozen shoulder was their new normal, or they needed surgery which would then be followed by months of painful recovery.

Although the research hasn’t perfected a single course of action to prevent such cases, it is certainly a step in the right direction.
Cheers to finally being noticed, ladies! You and your crunchy shoulders matter!
