Today I had the pleasure of getting a bridal party of eight spray-tan ready at Ellie Mack Beauty inside Simply Bliss Med Spa.

Each guest had their own setup waiting, complete with sticky feet and a little bag of spray tan essentials, and they were able to relax together while I took them one at a time for their custom tan.

On my way to get my port placed this morning.

This is what they’ll use to administer my chemotherapy treatments, which start Friday.

I’ve known this was coming. I’ve talked about the plan, the treatments, the appointments, and all the steps ahead. But heading in to have the port placed makes it feel different.

It’s starting to feel very real. And, if I’m being completely transparent, inescapable.

There’s no going around this part. The only way is through it.

So today is another step forward, even if it’s one I never wanted to have to take.

All thoughts, prayers, and support are greatly appreciated as I head into this next part of this adventure.

I’ve shared a little about building something that matters and knowing your “why.” Those ideas feel especially personal as I prepare for the next step in my breast cancer treatment.

On Wednesday, October 7, I’ll have my port placed and receive several vaccines. On Friday, October 9, I’ll begin my first round of chemotherapy. Later that same day, I’ll meet with a head/neck specialist about the growth on my thyroid.

The plan is 4–6 rounds of TC chemotherapy, followed by radiation, surgery, and then endocrine medication.

Having a clear plan means a lot to me. There’s still uncertainty, but I know what the next steps are.

As a business owner, teacher, graduate student, and mom, I’m learning to think differently about what showing up looks like. Some days, it means helping someone else move forward. Other days, it means making room for my own care and accepting support.

My commitment to the people I serve through Ellie Mack Beauty and in the classroom is still there. So is my responsibility to take care of myself.

For now, I’m taking this one appointment and one decision at a time. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, my family, and my business along the way.

Please schedule carefully:

• Appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance
• Prep must be completed the day before your spray tan
• Your spray tan should be scheduled for at least the day before the dance

Proper timing gives the solution time to develop and helps create the smooth, even color you want for homecoming night.

Don’t leave your spray tan until the end of your homecoming checklist. Appointment availability is limited.
