At Jeremy Smith, MD, we believe great spine care starts long before surgery is ever discussed. Every patient deserves a thorough evaluation, an honest conversation, and a treatment plan tailored to their specific condition and goals. Sometimes that means conservative care, sometimes it means surgery—but the focus is always on finding the right path forward for the individual patient.

The goal of spine care isn’t just to relieve pain - it’s to help you keep moving. Motion-preserving treatments are designed to treat damaged discs while maintaining natural movement in the spine. For the right patients, these techniques can help reduce stress on nearby segments and support long-term function.

Pseudarthrosis occurs when a spinal fusion does not fully heal as intended, meaning the bones fail to fuse together into a solid structure. When this happens, patients may continue to experience back or neck pain, instability, or persistent nerve symptoms even after surgery.
Identifying pseudarthrosis requires careful evaluation, including imaging and a review of symptoms. For some patients, revision surgery or other targeted treatments may be recommended to restore stability and improve outcomes.
