Omg! This Florida heat is real!

It only the beginning of June and we’re definitely already feeling that summertime heat here in Central Florida.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every year with the heat come the humidity, hand in hand like best friend here in the sunshine state.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just the word “humidity” make most curly girls cringe and sends them running to there nearest hair salon looking for solutions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So before spending your whole summer budget on keratin treatments, (which I’m 100% AGAINST if you want the best for your curls) here are a few of my suggestions for summertime weather and curls:

💫 Add more water to your routine. I know this sounds crazy but allowing the hair to have all the water it requires when conditioning and applying product helps to combat the effects of humidity. (It’s science, I’ll save the lesson for another day.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 Don’t be afraid of a good hard hold gel. The cast created by a good curly safe gel helps tremendously with holding the shape of your curls in the humidity and helps you get longevity of your style. Not all gels are created equal so don’t just try one and discredit all gels. There’s one out there for you that may make summers a little easier for you.

💫 Avoid misty rain when possible. I find that being in a down pour of rain is easier for the curls to bounce back from then a light mist. Misty rain created more frizz then being drenched in a monsoon afternoon storm because it just enough water for thirsty curls to fight over leaving your curls unhappy. When you do find yourself in mist weather don’t linger and if possible try to cover your hair to preserve your style, (I know you got a plastic shower cap in your purse, use it!!)

💫 Lastly, don’t be afraid of a little frizz! You’ll be surprised how many compliments you get when just let your curls do their own thing!

A couple weeks ago was my 15th anniversary from graduating cosmetology school.

That day I quietly reflected on the things I’ve done, all the ways I’ve grown in my craft, and all the ways I’ve grown as a person in that time.

Even after all these years I still feel inspired and love what I do!

And this brings me so much joy.

Improving doesn’t always mean complete change most times it’s small adjustments that make a HUGE difference in the outcome!
