more steps don’t automatically make a better facial.

sometimes i might look at your skin and decide that the exfoliation we could do isn’t what your skin needs that day.

maybe your skin is feeling sensitized. maybe it’s already irritated. maybe you’ve recently been using stronger products at home. or maybe your skin is simply telling me, very politely, “please leave me alone.”

and i’m going to listen to it.

a facial isn’t about fitting as many products, tools and treatments into one appointment as possible.

it’s about paying attention to the skin in front of me and choosing what makes sense for it that day.

sometimes that means exfoliating.

sometimes that means focusing on hydration, soothing & supporting the skin instead.

doing less isn’t “missing” a step.

sometimes doing less is the treatment🤍

you bought the products. you’re using the products.

…but are we just putting them on in whatever order our hand grabs them from the bathroom counter?

product order can matter, but i promise your routine does not need to become complicated.
a good general rule is to start with your cleanse, follow with any treatment products you use, then moisturizer and in the morning, finish with sunscreen☀️

you’ll often hear “thinnest to thickest,” and that can be a helpful starting point, but it isn’t a perfect rule for every product. formulas & active ingredients can have their own directions, so those matter too.

and please remember:

more steps ≠ a better routine.

three products used consistently and correctly can make a whole lot more sense than nine products layered together because the internet told you that you “needed” them🤍

save this one for the next time you’re standing at your bathroom counter wondering what goes where.

important sunday question.

which routine do you actually enjoy more?

☀️ morning skincare - fresh face, spf & ready for the day

or

🌙 nighttime skincare - everything shower, cozy clothes & taking the whole day off your face

i’m not asking which one you think you should choose.

i want to know which one you genuinely look forward to more.

team ☀️ or team 🌙?

this is for anyone who owns a skincare product they love so much that they’ve decided the logical thing to do is barely use it.

you know the one.

the expensive serum you only reach for on “special” nights. the face mask you’re saving for an occasion. the body cream that smells too good to waste on a random tuesday.
friend.

USE. IT.

skincare isn’t meant to sit beautifully on a shelf forever. once products are opened, they don’t stay fresh indefinitely and that little open-jar symbol on the packaging can give you an idea of how long the product is intended to be used after opening.

use the serum.

put on the fancy body cream.

do the face mask on a completely uneventful wednesday night.

you bought it to enjoy it.

don’t save it until it’s expired.

pumpkin gets plenty of attention in your coffee this time of year…but it has a place in the treatment room, too🎃

meet the phyto pumpkin peel, my little fall facial moment that goes beyond simply smelling seasonal.

this treatment pairs pumpkin enzymes with lactic acid to gently exfoliate and help lift away dull surface buildup, leaving the skin looking smoother, brighter and refreshed.

and because this is a professional treatment, we’re not playing the “stronger = better” game here either. your skin gets assessed first and the treatment is performed with what your skin can comfortably tolerate in mind.

the best part?

it’s only 30 minutes.

so if you’ve been wanting a little seasonal skin refresh without committing to a full-length facial, this one is such a good way to give your skin some attention.

fall coffee in one hand. pumpkin peel on the face.

balance🤍

somewhere along the way, skincare got a little aggressive.

we started associating tingling with effectiveness. tightness with cleanliness.

peeling with progress. and the stronger something feels, the more we assume it must be doing.

but good skincare doesn’t need to constantly announce itself.

“gentle” isn’t another word for weak.

it can look like cleansing without leaving your skin tight. exfoliating without trying to scrub away every bit of texture. introducing active ingredients slowly instead of throwing everything at your face at once. giving your skin a break when it’s clearly asking for one.

healthy skin doesn’t have to be a constant cycle of irritating it and then trying to repair it.

you can be gentle with your skin and still work toward results.

here’s your reminder that your skin doesn’t have to pick one personality and stick with it.

your forehead can get oily while your cheeks feel perfectly comfortable. your nose can be congested while the rest of your face isn’t. one area might be more sensitive while another tolerates products beautifully.

skin is allowed to be a little complicated.

that’s also why treating every inch of your face exactly the same way isn’t always necessary.

maybe certain areas need a little more hydration. maybe exfoliation stays focused where you actually need it. maybe the product your t-zone loves isn’t something your cheeks want every day.

the goal isn’t to build a separate 12-step routine for every section of your face.

it’s simply learning to notice the differences and giving your skin what it needs where it needs it.

your skin doesn’t have to fit perfectly into one little box labeled “dry,” “oily” or “combination.”

sometimes it’s just…your skin🤍

let’s talk about something that can make or break a spray tan before the color even has a chance to do its thing.

your skin prep.

spray tan solution develops best when it has an even canvas to work with, which means the little things you do before & after your appointment matter more than you might think.

leftover lotion, body oil or deodorant can create a barrier in certain areas. exfoliating or shaving at the wrong time can leave skin feeling a little too freshly worked. and once your tan is developing, water, sweat and tight clothing can all interfere with an even result.

good prep & proper development time and a little aftercare can make such a difference in how evenly your color develops and fades.

the tan may happen in the treatment room…

but some of the best results start before you ever walk through the door✨

dry skin usually sends us straight to one conclusion:

i need a better moisturizer🧴

and sometimes, sure, you might need something different.

but even the loveliest moisturizer has a hard job when the rest of your routine is constantly taking more than it gives.

a cleanser that leaves your face feeling stripped. a little too much exfoliation. several active products all competing for attention.

long, hot showers that feel amazing but leave your skin less than thrilled.

then moisturizer gets handed the mess and expected to fix everything.

instead of immediately replacing it, take a look at the routine surrounding it.

your skin may not need a heavier cream or another new product.

it might just need you to stop making your moisturizer work overtime🤍
